I'll definitely pick up The Circus to keep my Chaplin/Criterion collection up to date...

Thank goodness Local Hero is finally getting a Blu Ray release. One of the very best and little seen films of the 80's. Absolutely magic smile

LOCAL HERO was visible because it won a few critics awards in the U.S. It was even more visible in Britain, getting seven BAFTA nominations, with Bill Forsyth winning for Best Direction. But it was still little seen, earning just $5.9 million at the U.S. box office, making it the 84th most popular film of 1983.

Criterion has recently released an updated, restored, widescreen Blu-ray of the Russian WAR AND PEACE, with as much footage as they say is currently available.

Well it should garner at least one sale.
Right Chris?

Still no release of Soderbergh's KAFKA?

Shame!

And sorrow. frown

You never know - although a film that takes a working day to watch might have to wait for retirement. Fists in the Pocket would be of more immediate interest.

TG, you haven't spent the lowest English monetary unit on anything outside of a utilities bill since Leeds were relegated.

Will Criterion include an Odorama card with their Polyester release? I still have one that I received during the theatrical release.

I’m actually a paragon of profligate generosity compared with most of my countymen. I even picked up Thor’s drinks tab one evening.

That said, I just watched Fists in the Pocket on YouTube and you’ll find my (glowing) report in the usual place. Dammit, it made me want to buy the bluray anyway.

That's great! I remember some of the scents were truly disgusting at the time. For example smelly athletic socks. Audience reaction was hilarious. Lots of "ewwws."
