The Brady Bunch was a comedy and the opening was appropriately cute. There's really no comparison with the 1999 opening.

Eh, what?

The only comparison drawn was to a re-imagining of the 1999 titles that would have Bain turn to Landau a la Florence and Reed.

Well you lost me with Brady Bunch. Never thought I'd see the words "Space 1999" and "Brady Bunch" mentioned in the same thread.

H5O like 1999 were cool openings in their days but some techniques don't age well over time. From a nostalgia stand point its still cool. And gawd don't almost every film today basically mimic all the wild editing techniques from H5O nowadays? The sped up motion, slow downs, pauses, fast zoom ins and zoom outs. It was cool for an opening to a show but entire films are edited that way nowadays. Its nauseating.

We're lucky to get opening titles at all now. Composers don't have that chance to shine, at least not on Network TV.

Streaming services still have them, at least. And whatever premium cable shows I've seen.

Too true. I was pretty disappointed with shows like The Flash and Supergirl when they have no opening title sequence. I always felt these things were what set the audience in the right mood for the episode. As you say, stuff on Netflix and the like still have these things. Daredevil is a great sequence and theme, as is of course Game of Thrones.

But weve gone past 1999 now and theres no moon alpha base.
And insect-based moonships dont exist yet.
So it was all nonsense then?

No kidding! Blasting off into outer space is really more of a Partridge Family thing!

1974 - The Partridge Family 2200 A.D.

At 13:15, most likely rear projection. Looks better than most rp.

Agreed. The man walking in front of the Eagle bay, and the railing, are really there in the window, and behind that, it's a projection screen. Brilliant work for the period, and for TV at that. Clever and stunning.

That shot is fantastic! I've watched it about 20 times now. Thank you for pointing it out!

The Jetsons want their animation cels back.

That song is the most labored theme ever.
