What if you landed on the Moon, flipped the switch to blast off for your rendezvous in lunar orbit but nothing happened? You could jump start your Lunar Excursion Module!

"Aye, Scotty, use those old thyme batteries from...I think they called them 'cars.'"

I'm just glad he didn't use the word "hack" (instead of jumpstart) which has become the hip word for solving any problem. "Want to hack your bathroom clean? Try ammonia and bleach, works great!"

On a slight vector, anyone remember the paper cut-out LEMs given away at gas stations? I remember wanting one but I think they ran out. There's a website with scans to print it out.

That's cool. There's probably much better versions on the web today.

Hey, nostalgia is cool, I wasn't knocking your trip down memory lane.

Except that your response was insulting and pointless in context. If you said Max Steiner was a good composer, would it make any sense if I said "That's nice, but soundtracks are better now"? And followed up with "you're just being nostalgic"? And I doubt any gas stations today are giving out paper cut-outs of the latest spacecraft models.

I don't know what the f*ck you're talking about. Anyway sorry... I guess.

That's obvious. It's called being dismissive and missing the point by making unnecessary comparisons. Would be like posting about your thread here, "Who cares about the old Apollo LEM when we've got better spaceships today? The old LEM sucked, it's old news, drop it in a dumpster." But I guess you'd be fine with that reaction.

The LEM was great for a picnic on the Moon. Everything worked as it was designed to. The amalgam of ideas involved in getting a man to the Moon and back worked, too. Going to the Moon is doable. The real problem is Mars - consumables for a few days out won't cut it. If we can't hack Mars, we'll be rubbed out right here.

While I agree with your comments he was talking about a paper model.

Has "vector" become the hip word for tangent?

No, but thanks for making fun of my comments. Maybe you prefer "hacking" fun.
