Arthur, your review of Ride The High Country is superb! I love your words "heroic poignancy" to describe the finale. Perfect. It is a wonderful western with a gorgeous film score. Thumbs up! Thanks so much for your most thoughtful words.

Some kind of a Sam Peckinpah retrospective goin' on at TCM, Arthur? The ending of Ride the High Country (or, Guns in the Afternoon as it was titled here in the U.K.) brings tears to my eyes every time. A great western.

The ending of Ride the High Country (or, Guns in the Afternoon as it was titled here in the U.K.) brings tears to my eyes every time. A great western. Ditto, James. I always cry watching the end of this movie, and the music used during the end is so lovely and fitting. Joan, you're right and I was remiss not mentioning the scoring by Mr Bassman, which must be the pinnacle of his career in film music. Was glad to purchase the FSM CD when it appeared - how many years ago now? George Bassman, I'm sure, would go on to enter the house justified...
