Even the mother site, firstfloor-entertainment.de, is down. If you have a FB account, try this...

Maybe try contacting them on Facebook, Roger?

Yeah, I don't know what "This domain has been banned" means either, but thanks to the bump I've been reminded that the score is now available in a store near me for 17 euros. Will be ordering it soon.

I got Ambition, Graham, from Music Box already.
Hope you will like it.

The notes & credits inside the album answered some of my previous questions about this release.
The recording that Caldera issued was performed by the Utah Symphony Orchestra (which Rosenman used again on Keeper of the City).
The 'foci' recording that the filmmakers used for the temp track is probably a private/non-commercial source (likely conducted by Gerard Schwartz) for either a radio program or the composer's archive.
[prior to getting this CD, I was wondering if this film's score was simply the 'classical' tapes being cut-n-pasted by a LA music editor]

Now that I have this Caldera CD, this prompts me to think that, back in 1991, Ambition might have even been an Intrada project which never materialized because in that same year Intrada issued Keeper of the City and the expanded/re-mastered The Lord of the Rings.
Caldera (or Rosenman's widow) may have 'dusted off' an existing album master and put it out.

I hope every Rosenman fantatic and interested parties are enjoying their copy of Ambition. The sample provided on Soundcloud is a statement of Rosenman's signature dramatic tension. Does that represent the entire score?

Hi, Ag^Janus.

This Rosenman fanatic certainly enjoys his Ambition, though (thus far) this score hasn't climbed aboard my Top 10/4-star Rosenman list.
[I'd probably rank Ambition at 30th position (out of the 45 LR scores that I have) just above Bound for Glory and right under "One of the Family" from AHH]

That 4:40-minute soundcloud bite offers a suite from Ambition and I say it's quite representative of the score overall.
A number of cues in Ambition depict a 'stasis' that resembles abstract music more so than typical movie music.

I daresay, though, that - with respect to Rosenman's discography from 2019 - Varese Sarabande's expansion of RoboCop 2 is 'the big event' of this year.

30! That is about 29 below Fantastic. I may be a Rosenman collector as Ambition is in my sights.

I came across an online New York Times archive from 1981 which reviews - very briefly - Gerard Shwarz premiering "Rosenman's FOCUS 1". I take it it's the same piece. "Foci/Focus1"? Sorry I can't do a direct link. Damn 20th century spaceship. Rosenman himself says that the work is supposed to be like "a trip down the barrel of a microscope into the world beyond", and then the reviewer damns it with faint praise ("...of some interest...") but rattles off a final sentence saying more or less that it's really neither here nor there.

I was interested in finding a review of the concert work on which the film score is based because I'm having more than the usual trouble coming to grips with this one. I love most of Rosenman's music and rarely find it "difficult" because it's usually so fascinating. But AMBITION has yet to impress me fully. I suppose there's no room for classic film score Rosenman set-pieces and chases and stuff, although I'm glad to hear that he sneaked (snuck?) in a fair share of "Dum-Dum-Dum-Dum"s. Disappointing lack of tone pyramids though. I want all my Rosenmans to sound exactly the same.

The film itself sounds kind of small scale, a dark character study. I'm sure it works very well in context, but for the moment, although I "like" it on CD, it's really neither here nor there. Not yet anyway. I'm sitting on The New York Times' fence until I hear it ten more times.

My missus says I've got No Ambition whatsoever.
To which I reply, 'it hasn't even been released yet'.

Tell Kev McGann's missus that Graham Watt now has Ambition.
