I wonder if it'll be a new era of re-recordings like this, or if we can expect any original recordings of scores.

And if now that he's not longer at Varese, if he'll communicate with us here like other labels have (LLLR, Music box, PlanetSounds, Kronos, Intrada, Kritzerland -- off the top of my head).

A new era for film music, or regular work for his lady friend? :-)

Is it me or does she look a bit like Stormy Daniels?

The Amazon clips remind me of the duo playing last Wednesday night in my local Italian restaurant.

I went to Amoeba here in Hollywood as they carry everything. They told me they did not have this in stock and would not be ordering it. Very very strange that one of the biggest and most popular music stores isn’t carrying this. Real bummer. Looks like I’ll have to order it online.

Glad to see Townson still in the game.

That Spartacus box set bought him a lifetime's worth of credit, in my book. And a lot more besides.

Amoeba in SF has really.gone down in ordering new soundtracks.

Agreed. That was a great set and I also love the variations composed as tributes by modern composers.

Sadly, no. He gleefully spent Chris Kuchler's money. And Chris was not happy about the tally. I ran into him at the bank and he was really REALLY not happy about the tally.

We can now confirm TWO purchases!

new recordings = no interest and buy to me.
No matter about the final quality of the work itself: I collect and listen to original film and television music only.
Not the originals, no business.

Sounds like an interesting tribute. I expected HAMLET to be present on this recording since Sara Andon already performed a suite from this score together with an orchestra but there was of course so much potential stuff to choose from. I'm curious about her rendition of DAYS OF HEAVEN for instance.

Heard a clip of this vanity project. Not sure I'd have the patience for two whole CDs. Too "simplified" for me. Captures Morricone's great themes but not his equally great orchestrations.

In other words, you don't actually like the music.

I used to wonder why more discs like this weren't made. But comments like this make it obvious.

This one is on all the usual digital suspects, so it'll be easy to see if it's good or not. Hopefully it is, and hopefully people will like it enough to encourage more stuff like this,

I very much respect Mr. Townson's contribution to the world of film music and I'm endlessly thankful for the many great releases we've seen by the likes of Varese. Also, it should be acknowledged that he was one of the first players in the soundtrack re-issue game.

For the last decade, however, most of what I've seen were overblown marketing campaigns for so-so releases. There have been several releases that made collectors' dreams come true, but over-pricing, brickwalled and over-processed sound, incomplete releases and mediocre package design have not been the exception, but the rule. We've constantly seen much better works by the likes of Intrada, Kritzerland, FSM, Quartet and La La Land - and all with less fuzz about them.
