Between 1993 and 1995 British newsagents here and there stocked a magazine called Movie Collector. It covered film history and video releases etc but also had quite a decent coverage of soundtracks. The editor was Trevor Willsmer and contributors included David Stoner, Philip and Martin Masheter and various others. Issue 1 came with a cover-mounted cassette, 'Movie Collector Magazine's Top Scores'. I've just logged the details of that cassette onto Discogs (https://www.discogs.com/release/13494992). As an example of the soundtrack coverage, Issue 1 had a page of 'soundtrack news', a 4-page feature on Patrick Doyle, 2½ pages talking to John Scott about 'Anthony and Cleopatra', 2½ pages talking to Craig Safan about 'Son of the Morning Star', and 5 pages of reviews. Oh, and 58 Dean Street Records always had an advert in.
I think its the same mag -maybe im getting mixed up - but i had one which was a violent film special with a spread on Wild Bunch (with bonnie n clyde on the front) Lots of lovely colour pics!
Or if not that, there was a magazine series about that time that had a pullout 2 page poster in centre spread such as Steve mcqueen, and poster from cool hand luke etc.
Yep, I remember it...and buying it. They're probably in a box in the loft with countless other movie & music mags. I deffo got the first one with the free music cassette. I'll have to dig them out and see how many I bought. I miss magazines
Weren't Phillip & Martin Masheter the 58 Dean St owners?
