I was initially bummed Desplat was not scoring the Godzilla followup and I am not a big Macreary fan but as we get closer I am getting excited to hear what he comes up with. There is no news about the score yet so hope get get a tease of something soon. Film looks awesome from the little we’ve seen from the trailers.

Well, we know he's using Akira Ifukube's themes, so that's something, and something good.

Altough I'm big fan of Ifukube's theme (and his works), Desplat's score was a blast, five years later, is still a great score.

But i expected something terrific for McCreary

I can't wait for this! I love McCreary's work. I'll happily take his worst score over Desplat's best, any day of the week.

There isn't anything by Desplat I've even played at the level I have Caprica, and that's just one example of a fine score by McCreary.

Desplat leaves me incredibly cold "most of the time". It's not that his music is bad, it's just not what I look for in a score and what makes it the kind of music I'm going to want to keep going back to.

Wish I could be excited about the movie. I just can't get behind this Godzilla design, looks to much like a scaly bear or something. Its not Godzilla. Which is a shame because all the other monster designs in this film are awesome updates. I haven't followed Bear since BSG, so interested in hearing what he can do with a large big box office fantasy film.

Agree on his design, it's way too gentle looking (though the subtle updates on the design makes it overall a tad better). Now Shin-Godzilla, THAT was a bold design AND thoroughly Godzilla.

Loved the first one in this reboot.

Btw last nite I watched GODZILLA 1984. Music was not up to par with AI.

For one movie?, yes (but not one of my favorites), for a entire saga?, nop.

The Legendary design is perfect for a couple movies, i don't mind it, there is WORSE Godzilla's designs.

One of my favorite movies of the franchise, as for the score, Reijiro Koroku make a omnius and dark score, a very interesting work, btw.

Confused as to why a design can be good for just one movie but not for several movies? The main "problem" with Legendary's design is: it's just too much targeted for American audiences and does not pay enough hommage to the Japanese roots of Godzilla designs.

But it's still heads and shoulders above the Gino design, I give you that wink

And I can't shake off the feeling the Japanese showed how to deal with the American approach design-wise with the Godzilla of the anime trilogy - which is quite similar to the 2014, but totally transformed into a fantastic (fantasy) creature; which Godzilla always was. Now Godzilla Earth would be cool in King of Monsters wink

Yeah. That stuff was good. But that Euro pop kept intruding!

Not against it, but why does he need to use AI themes he's done enough projects too evaluate what he needs to do here.

He doesn't need to, he's choosing to 'cos they fucking rock. If I was scoring a GODZILLA film I would use those themes.

Kinda cool its happening long as Bear doesn't hog it - I'd expect an Asian composer using AI themes I find it alittle odd a US guy at it.

Little OT looks like they slightly modified Godzilla's design. She has a slimmer belly below the chest, small claws on his feet, (instead of elephant toe nails) and a cloaca. Head is still to small and Zilla is way to bottom heavy in design.

The most prominent changes are the back plates - they're looking a bit more like Godzilla 54 plates now.

Something tells me you’ll hear the Godzilla theme and the Mothra theme

Rodan and are three headed monster I think you’re getting new themes but that’s just something I heard in the wind

I'll never get used to see Radon being called Rodan wink
