I mean I guess it was supposed to be a Tribute from Goldsmith to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, but wouldn't they deserve their own heartfelt ORIGINAL music theme if that's what he wanted to do? I know he could have written a totally great piece of music with all of the lost souls specifically in mind. Why just say "here's my theme from a movie called THE LAST CASTLE" which has nothing to do with the horrendous terror attack that took so many innocent lives? I never really understood the reasoning behind it and even putting the title "September 11, 2001" on the CD of THE LAST CASTLE.

I know the movie came out I guess right around that time. But I kind of wish Jerry would have honored them with their own exclusive piece of music, for his "Tribute" to them.

Anyone else ever think about it?

I believe he was recording the piece when the attack happened. Possibly that same day. Hence the tribute and the titling.

He just chose to do it. Nothing to think about.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
