MONDAY, MARCH 25

STAR TREK---showrunner Alex Kurtzman commented on the new Jean-Luc Picard tv series, “We all know what Picard means to the world and why he, like so many legendary characters on STAR TREK, has endured and what he’s represented. He is some way has to go through a gauntlet to find that again. Things have changed for him and changed him in some ways, and yet he is so deeply and fundamentally still Picard. We’re thrilled at what we’re going to deliver. I know Patrick is really excited. The cast is coming together beautifully. And I will give you nothing else.”
He added, “I had an amazing experience yesterday. I sat at Patrick’s kitchen table and I heard him read the first episode and I almost cried. It was quite something. He’s at an amazing place in his life. He’s so excited. It’s going to be a very different show from DISCOVERY. The only way this universe, I think, works correctly is if each show is really different and speaks to a different part of STAR TREK.”

TARANTINO's 12 FAVORITE MOVIES---Quentin Tarantino listed his 12 favorite movies.

1. THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
2. TAXI DRIVER
3. JAWS
4. APOCALYPSE NOW
5. CARRIE
6. HIS GIRL FRIDAY
7. THE GREAT ESCAPE
8. DAZED AND CONFUSED
9. THE BAD NEWS BEARS
10.SORCERER
11.PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW
12.ROLLING THUNDER

STARDREAM---Vanessa Kirby (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE-FALLOUT, THE CROWN) will star in this sci fi movie about a spaceship carrying hundreds of thousands of cryogenically-frozen people to another planet to escape a dying Earth. When the spaceship's computer has problems, programmer Andreya creates an AI named Stephen as solution, but then Stephen falls in love with Andreya.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE---Zack Snyder commented on fan criticism that Batman killed people in his movie, “Someone says to me: [Ben Affleck’s] Batman killed a guy. I’m like, ‘f—, really? Wake the f— up. I guess that’s what I’m saying. Once you’ve lost your virginity to this f—ing movie and then you come and say to me something about like ‘my superhero wouldn’t do that.’ I’m like ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like down the f—ing road on that.
It’s a cool point of view to be like ‘my heroes are still innocent. My heroes didn’t f—ing lie to America. My heroes didn’t embezzle money from their corporations. My heroes didn’t f—ing commit any atrocities.’ That’s cool. But you’re living in a f—ing dream world.
So the cool thing is like mythologically-speaking I’m 100% fine and by the way I love anything more than Superman and Batman, but in the same way that Alan Moore was fed up with the f—in’ like OK ‘no ya know .. they do THIS.”

CAPTAIN MARVEL---VFX technician Chris Townsen said four live cats were used for Goose, the cat, but "There are about over 100 shots of the cat in the film, 70 or 80 of them are CG." He explained why CGI cats were used over the live cats, "There are also things that the cat didn’t want to do. Sometimes they’d be in the cockpit of the plane, and Ben Mendelsohn’s character would be sitting there in a big leather coat. The leather would creak and the cat would freak out on Sam Jackson’s lap. So there was an awful lot of replacement of the cat throughout the film."

PERRY MASON---HBO miniseries underway based on the novel series. It will be set in 1932 Los Angeles and stars Matthew Rhys (THE AMERICANS). Tim Van Patten is the director. The original Raymond Burr tv series ran on CBS from 1957-1966.

SUPERNATURAL---CW announced the upcoming Season 15 will be the last season.

BILL & TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY---William Sadler is returning as Grim Reaper for the sequel.

FUN AND GAMES---horror movie underway about two boys and their older cousin who play a kids game which unleashes the deadly Skarrow. The Russo Brothers are the producers.

THE SECRET INGREDIENTS OF ROCKET COLA---Zach Braff will direct this movie about twin brothers who fall in love with the same woman and team up to save their cola company.

MARVEL'S RUNAWAYS---Hulu renewed the series for Season 3.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
In a VIEW TO KILL, Roger Moore was unhappy with his co-star Grace Jones, who often arrived on the film set when she felt like it, which agitated the cast and crew. Moore referred to Jones in one of his Bond books as, "She who shall not be named".
A VIEW TO KILL director John Glen, added more about the Moore and Jones relationship in his autobiography FOR MY EYES ONLY: MY LIFE WITH JAMES BOND, "We were filming the scene where Roger slips between the sheets when Grace suddenly produced a huge black dildo from under the covers. She was screaming with laughter for about 10 minutes, although I'm not sure Roger saw the funny side."

Hm. Surprisingly predictable. I expected more French and Italian stuff.

Cool. I love sci fi movies like that. Count me in!

I love Snyder and his work (bless his heart!), but can someone please translate that into something less verbal, with less expletives? Something intelligible, at least. smile

SUPERNATURAL---CW announced the upcoming Season 9 will be the last season.

What do you mean, season 9? It's currently in its 14th season. I think you mean season 15. But still -- surprised to see it go. I thought this series would go on forever!

The way Snyder talks says so much about him as a director, and not in a good way

Yeeesh. Snyder sounds bitter.

His mentality and sentiments may still be colored by residual incomprehensible pain, poor guy.

Sounds like a real A-hole who shouldn't be allowed to touch superhero films. We've gotten a window into his mind and why he makes the crap he does and hires the composers he does.

Thor,
If you love someone you never ask "what the f*** does that mean?"

Sure I do. Ridley Scott has some incomprehensible rants at times too, but he's still my second favourite director of all time.

Far more classier than what my reply was going to be. So I'll go with yours.

Re: Captain Marvel- Funny how people can't stop talking about the cat. Far more interesting than the "star" of the film.

Re: Star Trek- They're really desperate to save All Access Streaming and the Star Trek franchise by rushing out another series. I'll bet they're banking on nostalgia but it will be Prime Trek through and through, which won't bode well for them.

Loosely translated, I think Zack Snyder is saying that fans who think Batman doesn't or shouldn't kill are naive, and that he isn't interested in discussing his vision/interpretation of the DC characters with the fans.

Meh. I actually have more respect for Snyder's approach of having a Batman who kills than Christopher Nolan's approach, which was to give Batman an inviolable rule against killing, and then in the same movie, allow Batman to give himself a pass for abandoning Ra's al Ghul to his death because Batman didn't technically kill him. With respect to Snyder's approach, it is at least consistent with the idioms of movie action heroes. Nolan's approach is too half-assed for someone with Batman's level of obsession. It would have been better if they hadn't bothered with such a rule in the first place.

Yeah, pretty much.

The Batman of Dawn of Justice is an older, jaded and very bitter Bat. He lost sight of his own ideals over time. By the time film ends and Superman sacrifices himself, he has a reawakening. These films, whether you like them or not, are about growth and redemption of the characters. I like this a lot.

Also, Batman killed people in the Tim Burton films and nobody gave a shit, so there's that,.

Nolan rules. Snyder drools.
