Disney have finally closed the deal, officially at midnight Eastern Time last night.

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2019/mar/20/disney-seals-71bn-deal-for-21st-century-fox-as-it-prepares-to-take-on-netflix

Deadpool and Bart Simpson are now on the front page of the Disney website alongside their other properties.

Even Ryan Reynolds chipped in:

Hope it doesn't mean too much of this for any of the labels:

I'm very interested to know what is now officially 'off limits' to La La Land Records out of the titles they have hinted at previously, namely

The Towering Inferno
X-Men 1
Diary Of Anne Frank
Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea (TV series)
X-Files Vol 4

Which of these titles will be 'honored' by Fox/Disney and which are now officially out of LLL's reach?

I hope this means the return of the 20th Century Fox Fanfare to Star Wars movies. Episodes VII and VIII weren't the same without it.

That would be the only good that comes out of this buyout, but I don't see it happening.
Star Wars is firmly branded under the Disney label now.

A couple years ago Gareth Edwards talked about viewing a 4K copy of an UN-specialized edition of Star Wars A New Hope, I wonder if those in-altered remastered classics will come out now.

I've not heard those terms before - what do they mean?

Here's the Hollywood Reporter's story.

They better at least let LLL get Anne Frank out, or I’m going to be very annoyed with Disney.

Hey, I want that fanfare back on the films too (and now that Disney owns Fox that's indeed more likely to happen), but I'm far MORE excited at the possibility of finally getting a release of the original films in good quality, now that Disney owns both Fox and Lucasfilm. They'd be stupid not to do it. And whatever Disney is, "stupid" isn't it.

I'm not happy about Disney getting this much power but yeah I'm gonna find a silver lining where I can. smile

Just started watching Season 2 of The Orville. Man! I sure hope La La Land is allowed to release it when the season is completed. Episode 3 especially!

We shall see.

Agreed. A season 2 Orville release is a must. I hope LLL can still do it, but if not them then Intrada has GOT to take up the baton!

Regarding Star Wars and Indiana Jones. I wonder if Williams himself might have some influence in getting Disney to let Mike Matessino work his magic on it.

Given the odd choices Disney has been known for it might take a word from Mr Williams himself to be "Our Only Hope". Remember how Mr Matessino said that Williams personally requested the Dracula masters be given extra search attention...and the result was stellar!?

Between Jaws, Superman, Harry Potter and every other Spielberg film releases over the last few years, this would be the last of Mr Williams Franchise Oeuvre to be revisited.

I hope there's influence enough to inspire Disney.

So is the Fox catalogue still accessible to any of the labels or only Intrada can do it now?
What about movies released under Fox Searchlight brand?

Since the Disney buyout no one has truly disputed George's claims there's no original masters to go back to. I don't trust the word of Edwards. (didn't Disney can him?) But I'm with ya. I want the original unaltered theatrical films in HD.

Licenses are very specific. Won't FOX be a sister company of Disney? Intrada's deal involved Disney branded titles. I can't see them using only one specialty label. Intrada itself said they'll never get to the majority of content in the vaults.

Only Intrada, except for the titles MV previously said would be honored - but we don't know which those are.

Hopefully some of these titles is Buffy/Angel! :O

Are you sure you aren't confusing this with Sony music cutting off third party licensing? Last I heard from MV or Bruce Kimmel (at Kritzerland), the Fox stuff was still all up in the air.
