Jeezum crow, you guys hating on the Robo-choir.
Once upon a time I actually timed how much that lasts and how many bars they have...then shook my head, discarded the results, and enjoy the score to this day.
So hung up on that facet....there is, now 69:50 of great LR here!
Looking forward to all 3, guess we all have hangups we cant pass...

I always get a kick out of the vocalise myself - kind of a superhero throwback idea, and musically more interesting than it otta be. But mostly, just so glad to get so much more of Rosenman's score (for a movie I utterly despise).

And Raggedy Man at last! It's not my favorite kind of Goldsmith score, but I know Jerry loved writing this kind of sweet music, so I'll be listening with a lump in the throat and memories of the 45+ years of joy this fella brought me.

Two thumbs up!

Reminiscent of his 1970s bucolic scores (like the lighter cues in THE OTHER).

I'm a big Rosenman fan, but ....

Yes, I was thinking of The Waltons, and Room 222 as well.

I'm pleased about Raggedy Man as I couldn't get my hands on the original release.

I had hoped for Air Force One, but I am grateful for RoboCop 2. And so I ordered that. smile

According to Varèse Sarabande on Facebook over 500 copies of Raggedy Man have already been sold.

I'm so hoping that the "Rooobbbooocop!" chorus was recorded separately, so a re-issue of the deluxe edition can have the orchestral-only pieces.

I also hope the brass instruments were recorded separately. Wouldn't it be great to have tracks without them?

And the obvious omission of a track with flute 2, bass clarinet, all bassoons, three of the horns, second violin and percussion? I mean come on! Why do they never release these very obviously needed versions!

Bigger let down than JEDI + MENACE combined.

Well Moradi is happy...

Robert he had only '6 weeks' to prepare for the final batch. Had he had more time at this he would have prepared a Batch 'to end all Cd Club Batches'. Hopefully we will have 2 more batches this year.

Again, Roger Feigelson of Intrada watched the film a few years back to find out if there were any unreleased cues. He found not a single one. If you have evidence of actual unused cues or alternates that wouldn't have been in the film for him to find, please present it. Otherwise I'm not going to fault Varese for Encoring this. smile

I watched this great little film again tonight. It's been a while but I can confirm apart from maybe a 20 second variation of the main theme on guitar all of the score is on the CD. There may even be quite a bit of score on the CD that was not used in the film. Curiously I noticed during the end credits the proverbial " soundtrack available on MCA records and tapes" which we all no never happened until Varese came along with their original club release many years later.

Rootling around on Amazon Prime UK this morning, I found a 1963 American TV movie of Alexander The Great (starring William Shatner), scored by Leonard Rosenman. To kill a few minutes, I listened to the end credits music and there's a choir there singing "Alexander!!!!".

Regarding Robocop 2 specifically: I've listened to the original album again (first time in ages) but still not sure whether I want a full 69 minutes of it.

Heaven forbid he used a choir for that! Whoever heard of a greek chorus? The music is actually available from Film Music Society which can be found by rootling online.

Hmmm. Then don't buy it.

[1] It just struck me as odd that Robocop 2 isn't the only example of Rosenman using a chorus to sing the lead character's name (in the case of Alexander there are other lyrics, but even so). Did he do this on every score?

[2] That's not what a Greek choris is.

[3] Wouldn't know about FMS.

[4] Maybe I won't then. Thanks for the advice. Sorry to bother you.

Well, on The Lord of the Rings for Ralph Bakshi, he had a choir just sing "Moooooooordooooooorrrr" a lot. wink

I don’t think anyone has received theirs yet. I think they’re waiting for the discs to arrive from the factory.
