There should be a Compact Disc record producing plant in Europe. All the major American labels would send their liner notes, album cover art et cetera to that plant digitally. The record plant would then press those discs in limited quantities. Thus, more Europeans can afford to buy these releases. Everybody wins. The problem with that is that just about every country in the world is now dealing with this issue. We're the next-door neighbours to the U.S. and we have the same exorbitant customs and shipping fees as the EU. It's maddening, to say the least.

My post was mostly a utopian dream, a kind of a best-case-scenario. I have no idea how the logistics, or licensing would work on that. Or whatever else is involved in this business. I myself am a low-paid worker bee, uneducated, unwilling or incapable of getting an education and thus a high-paying job so I could afford to buy all the scores I want and nevermind about the postage & customs charges. I simply cannot afford everything I'd like to own. (And what's more, I've started liking popular music, or songs with lyrics. So I have to devote funds towards that, too. And it's cheaper.) But back on topic. Wouldn't it be cool to have a joint effort, between an American record company and a European record company. U.S. pressing of 1500 copies, E.U. pressing of 500 copies. Something like that. And now I've angered all the score-buffs from Africa, Middle East, Far East, Australia, Central America, South America. I don't mean anything by it. I just want to afford buying these releases.

Hello folks Yes I have all the all the gripes that everybody else here has. Seems to me it's time to stop the grumbling and come up with some creative legal ways of getting around the situation. One way I try to use is buying sale or second hand cds to make the average cost of each cd lower - but at present there is not always a good choice. Be great to hear any suggestions anybody has to put forward on this. Regards CC PS: How about packing 2 single cds into one box? Just a thought

Nah, I love your "pipe dream." Who knows, maybe someone smarter than I can solve it. To Charlie Chan, re: Yes I have all the all the gripes that everybody else here has. But I hear what you're saying; I'm just neither brilliant enough, have the tools at my disposal, nor have the time to change it. Ranting is definitely easier. (All in fun, by the way. I do hear your point.)
