THE HIGHWAYMEN---trailer released for the Netflix movie starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson.

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH6vC-BBKOc

OBI-WAN KENOBI---a source claims Lucasfilm is developing an Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries for the Disney+ streaming service. The project was originally a movie that was shelved after the disappointing SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY that is being adapted as tv miniseries with possibly six episodes. It is not known if Ewan McGregor might be involved in the miniseries, but he has said he would be interested in returning as Obi-Wan when the shelved movie was discussed, “I would totally do it, of course.” Disney+ already has THE MANDALORIAN and the ROGUE ONE spinoff tv series.

DUNE---David Dastmalchian (THE DARK KNIGHT) will play Piter De Vries in the Denis Villeneuve remake movie. Brad Dourif played the role in the original 1984 movie.

THE CREED OF VIOLENCE---Daniel Craig stars in this movie based on the novel about an assassin and his estranged son, an FBI agent, who team up to infiltrate the Mexican criminal underground during the 1910 Mexican revolution.

FRASIER---Kelsey Grammer said a reboot of his NBC sitcom is being discussed, “We have been talking with several teams of writers, a couple of guys from the old show, a couple of new writers, and the take I’m looking for is just that he has a third act rather than trying to pick up where the second act left off.
We have to button up a few things, tie up a few loose ends, having to do with the fact John (Mahoney) is gone, who played my father Martin, but there are a couple of really interesting areas and it’s a little premature to discuss them yet, but when somebody signs a check we might be talking a little more specifically.”

THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE---Amazon cancelled the series with the upcoming Season 4 being the last season.

NIGHTFLYERS---Syfy cancelled the series.

HOWARD THE DUCK---Lea Thompson may be returning for the Hulu/Marvel animated tv series based on the 1986 movie.

THE STORYTELLER---Fremantle/The Jim HensonCompany/Neil Gaiman reboot is underway of the Jim Henson anthology series.

LUCK---Emma Thompson has left the voice cast of the Skydance Animation movie after John Lasseter was named head of Skydance Animation. Lasseter left his job as head of Disney-Pixar after allegations of sexual harassment.

BATWOMAN---Dougray Scott will play Jacob Kane in the CW pilot.

TRIVIA--veteran character actor Paul Picerni appeared in many tv shows and movies including MANNIX, KOJAK, BARNABY JONES, HAWAII FIVE-O, GUNSMOKE and PERRY MASON, but he is best known for playing Federal Agent Lee Hobson, Eliot Ness's second-in-command, in the original THE UNTOUCHABLES tv series.
Picerni brought in brother, Charlie, to play his double/stunt man for THE UNTOUCHABLES which led to Charlie and other members of the Picerni family being among the top stuntmen in Hollywood with credits including DIE HARD, LETHAL WEAPON and THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK.

Paul Picerni (center) co-starred with Robert Stack in the original THE UNTOUCHABLES.

In World War II, Picerni was the bombardier on a B-24 Liberator that helped destroy the real Bridge on the River Kwai and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

I really enjoy The Man in the High Castle. Hopefully they can round off the story they want to tell by the end of season 4 and make it a solid and enjoyable four seasons.

I'd welcome more Frasier if it was as written as well as the old series. It's not really necessary to see what happened afterwards, but i'm sure they'd do a good job if they went into production. John Mahoney is a big loss but it would be interesting to see what new characters they create, which will come back and what chemistry they'll all have with each other. The more i think about it, the more i want to see it.

The casting for Dune certainly looks good. I can watch the old version but I wouldn't say i was a fan, and have never read the books or seen the mini-series. But i'm quite interested in this upcoming version.

Yeah, Dune 84 had a very large and impressive cast, and well, see what happened

I wasn't that taken with the film when i saw it when i was about 9. But i've seen it a couple of times over the years and there's the cast, enough interesting design and some decent moments in it to drag me through it. For years that giant psychic thing in the fish tank stuck in my memory, as did the crazy force field in the training scene, and the grotesque fat bad guy (who was really great) but not much else. I also remember at the time getting Dune cards you got free with Shreddies cereal, i think it was.

I like this Villeneuve (sp?) chap. His films are mostly decent, even if, like with Christopher nolan films, i don't connect with them 100%. Buti like his style in general and figure this new one has a decent chance of being watchable, at least.

Dune 84 is a mish mash of great design and mood, and stuff you cannot make heads or tails of.

If they were to make another movie, which is a terrible idea, they should NOT have DV direct it. The last thing this needs is a super artsy approach, if anything, it needs stripped down of it's text, stripped of it's artifice and portent, and ripped down into a mode like the first Mad Max. But none of that is going to happen.

I hazard a guess at this point: Ado is interested in DUNE. But only the book. No film adapations are good, or need to be made. I could be way off here, but that's my sneaking suspicion.

The only one I would be interested in, and Henry too I suspect, is letting George Miller tear it to pieces, taking what he liked from the book and tossing the rest of the hookum aside like the junk it is, and build something with little to no green screen and little to no CGI work. Treating this stuff like scripture, and that is what the Herbert estate wants, is just the death of it as a movie of any kind.

Sure, I'd be game for a Miller version. But I don't really have the connection to this thing as you do, so I'm fine with Villeneuve since I'm a big fan of his, and think he's perfect for the job.

I've never read the book. I was first introduced to this universe through the computer games in the 90s, and then subsequently the Lynch film (which I like) a few years later. Never seen the TV series thingie (but great Revell music!).

That's commendable, Ado, in conception. Dune, though, seemingly requires some Dream-state, Hallucintory-episode kinds of interludes.

I think the combination of the rollicking style you've got in mind, if you scheduled the trippy segments into the Audience Fatigue Curve, might just work.

Twitter is acknowledging that everyone on Earth is cast in Dune. The entire band Toto is cast as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. I'll be playing Duncan Idaho's evil clone, Johnny Utah, conspiring with Halle Berry (Hannah Montana) and Carrot Top (Indiana Jones). My genitals are auditioning for an appearance as an alpha sandworm. To-scale, of course.

Oh thanks. And maybe it can be scored by, I don't know, The Cure. I mean, let's really loosen the screws on this puppy

I agree. Frasier is one of my all-time favorites, but it was truly the rest of the ensemble that made it so successful. The characters were all perfectly cast, and it's supremely unlikely they would be able to catch lightning in a bottle like that again. But then again, who knows? Back in 1993 who ever thought Frasier would turn out to be so successful, after the mega-hit that Cheers was? Anything can happen.

Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi was the only good thing in the prequels.
If they did a series with him and had Joel McNeely compose the score it would pique my interest.
