Such a cool score, but I absolutely loathe the sound effects in "The Car Chase". Best cue on the album completely ruined. Does any version exist withOUT the sound effects? No version without the sound effects exist. A re-issue might be nice, but the rights to the score belong to Roy's former agent Fishman who had whisked away quite a few rights of Roy's works from Roy and the studios. It's all a bit muddy.

It's a great score (That is a bit different then what you hear in the film) As for the Sound Effects in the big Car Chase..... Well, since the album was produced and assembled by Mr. Budd in the first place, if he didn't have a problem with it, then I don't either. It's a hell of a fun track and too be honest, it's even more fun when you are driving, it's rather dangerous as a matter of fact, but God Damn it's just get the blood pumping. Would it be nice to have it without the Sound Effects, but as is it's a great piece as is. Bitching and moaning about it nearly 50 years after it's original release on LP seems a bit pointless to me. The rest of the album is really good and never gets talked about just because of a track that mixed sound effects (But no Dialogue) with the music that it was written to be used with in the first place. Enjoy the album for what it is, you'll be greatly rewarded. IMHO of course. Ford A. Thaxton

Not that it matters but when they released the LP we didnt have dvds or videoes in UK! The only way to reexperience a film unless u wanted to wait 5 years for it to come on tv was by audio. Great score. Not prolific, but Mrs Budd's son only ever wrote top quality scores.

Thaxton It is an excellent film score and the LP eventually came out long after the movie had done it's rounds in the UK cinemas as for some reason it kept getting delayed and continually pushed back. In those days score albums without a song included were few and far between so I guess we were lucky to get this Roy Budd score at all.
