Does MV Gerhard think it'll be safe to wait until Christmas to get this one?

I'll be devastated if I can't get it, but money may just be too tight for the forseeable future, and I blew a lot of dinero getting John Williams' Dracula, WarGames, The Legend of the Lone Ranger, and of course the latest iteration of The Beatles' White Album over the holidays.

If you email them and give a date by which you'll order it, maybe they'll reserve one for you. Chances are you'll be fine anyway, but this would be insurance.

This release is absolutely super, if you'll pardon the pun. The Blue Box served us well for the last ten years and this one will serve us well forever.

I was amazed at how a veil of harsh shrillness had been lifted for the first time in forty years.
Now the recording sounds more gentle and dry so that the sound stage ambience can be heard for the first time. We were used to how it would be mixed into the film, but now we can hear the original recorded intent. I remember reading back in 2008 about how in the production of the Blue Box that a lot of EQ had been used to "flatten out the blarey glarey midrange they had in the '70s." Not so here it seems. Plenty of healthy full-bodied midrange. Absolutely super.

The reproduction of the original soundtrack album from the ground up is astounding. I'm glad the "Theme from Superman" was re-edited seamlessly rather than presented from the original album master again.

I also received my copy of the "Superman II/III" set the other day for access to the re-mixed source cues. The inclusion of the previously unreleased and the extended ones was a nice surprise. I especially loved "Lois' Pad." Moody, dreamy, and romantic. One minor thing I noticed though: the track "Can You Read My Mind (Instrumental No. 2)", the one intended for a vocalist, does not sound like it was remixed from 24-track. It sounds exactly like it appears on the Blue Box. If anything, it does sound slightly less harsher, as though it may have been remixed from the 35mm magnetic six track. No matter though. It's great to have it, its companion piece, and the other source cues where they belong.

Overall, the definitive edition of the most super film score in the history of cinema! Thank you to Mike Matessino and associates!

La-La Land's artwork makes another fine addition to my wall poster collection.

The best thing about the Disc 3 OST Program is That it can be easily issued both as a separate OST album or another 2XLP Vinyl set using the newly mastered configuration. But honestly it's the Disc 1& 2 complete score that deserves the Vinyl treatment.

I'd love to have a high resolution pic of this cover?

Well, that’s some kind of personal record. Received my package in exactly one week. That’s pretty fast for US to Canada. I’d usually be waiting about three.

Beautiful package. Just diving in to it now. Fortress of Solitude- wow.

Archer is also top notch and I can notice an improvement in Warning Shot.

Thanks Lalaland.

I have the Blue Box but love this release!! I’d kind of like to get the Superman II & III set. I know it has a few Williams cues but is the original Thorne music improved any? I like the Blue Box cds so if they’re the same I really don’t need to buy them again.

They are the same masters for Superman II and III, and largely for Superman IV.

The Superman II /III set does include the better source cues from Superman The Movie.

Got Superman today....

I can't believe what I'm hearing: audio quality is unreal, I have had every version before and nothing compares to this....

I'm hearing instruments I've never heard before.

Thank you Mike, Thank you La La Land

The greatest score ever deserved your magic touch

I was just determined not to get Superman, but all the yammering here finally convinced me. Ordered it last week, got it just a few days later - sometimes it works not to order right away.

Anyway, I had to listen to the original album presentation first. And I loved it right through the Fortress of Solitude (or side 2, as I still think of it). I tend to prefer the edited versions of the Krypton material, less repetition of the Kansas theme, etc. But then the rest seemed to rush by, the end titles playing way too soon. I missed so much of the wonderful action and super-heroics music I realized I'm just not likely to go back to it. Fun for nostalgia's sake though.

What does your tracking info say? I notice you're in Prague, so obviously that's going to be more complicated than a domestic shipment within the U.S.

It is trackable until reaching the local airport, which according to tracking it did on March 2nd... so it has been only 2 weeks since it has landed here.. no idea what has been going on since...

Checked at the local post office, they don't have it... I suppose it may still pop-up somewhere... but I am getting a bit worried...

Not to take away from Superman, which I also ordered and appreciated for its really remarkable sound quality, but "Archer" is the kind of thing that I would have gone crazy for in, say, 1997. It's pretty fantastic, and even though I'm sure Goldsmith wrote it in his sleep it's great to have. Probably the closest thing to "Pursuit" that we'll ever get.

Also, I have a fondness for Warning Shot, which I like for its jazzy sound and less cheese than the Flint scores. I'm glad to see it getting some love as this sounds a lot better than the last release.

Absolutely. This disc needs more love.
Archer theme has been bouncing around in my head all week.

I think “Hurry Up” is my favorite cue. Funky stuff. “The Tail” is also pretty cool.

My “Superman: The Movie” order from LLL arrived here in the UK last week and I’m pleased to report, with no “ransom demand” from HMRC. Great service from LLL. I placed my order late afternoon on Friday (UK time) and it was delivered to my address in the south of England the following Tuesday morning! Very pleased, as I had also taken the opportunity to order “CE3K 40th Anniversary Edition” and “The World is Not Enough“ 2CD set.

Listened to the Superman anniversary soundtrack yesterday and just wanted to echo some of the positive remarks in this thread. A wonderful release and a great achievement by everyone responsible. The sound quality is fantastic and the packaging is the usual LLL high standard.

I own the blue box, but made a double purchase of the individual sets. No regrets at all for me. Thank you for this series - it's a great achievement
