Of course, there's that little tiff over Elfman's Batman score not getting released in favor of Prince's album. I was surprised to hear the news on Entertainment Tonight (back when they reported news instead of gossip).
I'm pretty sure Goldsmith was happy when the LP of LEGEND called "LEGEND THE MUSIC OF JERRY GOLDSMITH" was released. I know I was. I remember living in Woodinville Washington near Seattle in 1985 and picking it up at the Seattle Tower Records back then. They had only One LP copy of it and I grabbed that puppy up pronto. Same with the LP of Goldsmith's THE FINAL CONFLICT which I also remember purchasing there. Great memories of wonderful Soundtrack LP collecting days!
I can imagine many pious parents at that time taking one look at that cover and having visions of "Dark Dungeons" and "Satanic Panic" all over again.
Didn't Lukas once mention somewhere about Varese Sarabande's XCD label numbers being attributed to those where financial input from the composer himself made the release possible? I'm thinking David Shire and his BED & BREAKFAST here; don't know how many other XCD issues there were.
