The songs in this one have a CARRIE feel about them to me.

Ford, any possibility to get a release of the Lee Holdridge score to 1979's FRENCH POSTCARDS?

I really would love to have a great release of that with Lee's great score along with all the French Language Versions of all the fun American Songs, "Do you Believe in Magic", "Will you still love me tomorrow?" etc.

Not yet. But I am usually the very last person to get new Varese releases, even when I order them moments after their announcements. People chime in from all over the US on these boards, and I'm still waiting. Obviously, Varese hates me.

You should have put a smile face at the end of your post. Seriously, I think we are all in the same "unfulfilled" boat on this one.

This ain't an easy CD to bag.
Obviously I'm not gonna buy it direct from Varese, cos I ain't Bill Gates, but none of my usual order outlets seem to have it, or even have it listed.
Thankfully, my trusty CD-R copy has kept me going all this time, but I would like to upgrade, given the chance.
Anyone else have a copy?
Is the transfer any good? (not too brick-walled).

So has anyone received their copy yet?
I had just opened mine and during first track alone it start skipping TWICE!

At 1:37-40 and 2:26-27

Is anyone else's copy affected or just mine?

FYI, this release was edited and mastered by James Nelson at DIGITAL OUTLAND (Who is no fan of brick Walling) and I think it turned out rather well and Lee Holdridge signed off on it/

If you enjoy Lee Holdridge's work, this is one to seek out.

Well I had two copies here and there was no issue whatsoever.

I suspect it has more to do with the device you are using to either play it or rip it.

Also, just try wiping off the disc itself, that has solved more playback issues then I can count.

I had read this was a hard one to get but I just ordered from SAE. Since there was no back order indication, I am guessing it will arrive. Fingers crossed.

Finally added this CD to my collection and although I haven't spun it yet (although I know it from heart from the old LP and my CD-R copy) just opening up the case and seeing the disc causes one to break out in a great big nostalgic grin.
Well played Varese.

I know I'm pi$$ing in the wind here, but I just gotta say how gorgeous this score and it's main theme are.
Alone Together is just achingly beautiful.
Lee Holdridge really has a gift for melody.
His themes just cry out for lyrics.

Where's zooba when ya need him? wink

Fun fact, when Universal released it in England it was called The Other Side of the Mountain
because The Other Side of the Mountain itself was renamed A Window To The Sky after the movie's awardbait song from Olivia Newton-John.
