  • I missed out on this one. It sucks when so few copies are made available. Hopefully it’ll get another release one day.

It's still listed at Ark Square ("do they have it?" is another thing). Sorry I can't direct link since their entire site's URL seems to be nothing but the main page. Hit "Collectible CDs", then enter in the search bar.

    http://www.arksquare.net/index_main.html

I saw it missing at Quartet, went into panic mode, and managed to get an at-price copy at Amazon, but now that seems to have dried up as well.

I placed an order through Ark Square. I've never ordered from them before. Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!

I finally got my hands on this gem. I really like the Intrada release, but I was disappointed by a few omissions that are on the Quartet release. Both are great presentations of the score, but I have to give the edge to the Quartet release for providing the film versions with absolutely fantastic sound, as well as the original 1983 soundtrack album. Excellent work, Quartet! Thank you for the work you put into it!

I don’t think this one features any audio compression. If it does, it’s not much.

    No compression, no sale!

And no complain about the "extreme" dynamic range on this one.

There are beautiful dynamics which make the music "swing".

I finally listened to this set for the first time a few weeks ago and for fans of this score it's a must have. Intrada's release has its benefits, but with all due respect to Mr. Rubinstein's vision for the score, this is the best possible version of the film score proper. And the sound is great. Highly recommended.

Great! I missed out on the original release and now I can finally add it to my collection (together with Ennio Morricone's The Thing).

Any word on this being a Limited run?

I thought this release was limited to 1,000 copies? Now that it is once again available, are these copies in addition to the original run? And, no longer say "limited to 1,000 copies" on the sleeve?

But it would be a huge tragedy if they went and negotiated the license again to print more so that there are more than 1000 copies in the world of the same program wouldn't it?

I got the new release yesterday and the cover doesn't mention it's a limited edition. And it seems this new release replaces the old release, because the catalog number is the same.

Going by the album cover posted on SAE, there's significant differences in the two covers.

Unlike the original Quartet iasue, the Arthur Rubinstein credit is in non-computer characters, and the key art of David and Jennifer appears slightly bigger, while maybe the movie title is a different size.
