After watching First Man recently, I got out my DVD of HBOs From the Earth to the Moon and marveled yet again at it's brilliant music (the episode Spider just gets me every time).

Is there ever a chance we'll see this one day, maybe a 3-disc set?

Funny you should mention this, I'm halfway through a re-watch.
This would make a lovely 2-disc set, but I can image dealing with studio and all the different composers could make it tricky.
If it was easy I would imagine this would already have been released by now.

And yes, the music in Spider is just fantastic.

I asked MV about this in the LLL thread some time ago. He said something to the effect could happen some day. So we at least know the recordings exist.

So you’re saying start saving now for the box set?

Well, THATS a bit depressing.

Mind, they said Alien 3 expanded would never happen, and stuff like the complete Conan or William's Dracula...

Like a complete Vangelis Blade Runner, I'll keep on hoping...

No mate, I was replying to Mr Marshall's reality-check a few posts back, it got lost in the other subsequent posts. While the tapes etc no doubt exist there are no doubt many legal hurdles. Things have changed since the show originally came out, and shows tend to get big substantial albums now (WESTWORLD, GOT) but even the series itself seems largely forgotten now. With the interest from First Man and the anniversary of the landing next year, I would love to see a remastered release on Blu-ray or UHD even. Maybe that will get a soundtrack release cleared?

That all said, it's a longshot, but stranger things have happened (Alien 3 etc).

Please remind me what the spider ep was about.

Please remind me what the spider ep was about.

From Wikipedia:

Returns to 1961, and NASA engineer John Houbolt's lonely fight to convince management that the easiest way to land men on the Moon will be to use a separate landing craft. It then traces the design and development of the Lunar Module by a team led by Grumman engineer Tom Kelly. Covers the selection and training of the first crew to fly it, James McDivitt and Rusty Schweickart (along with Command Module pilot David Scott), and culminates with their first flight of Spider in Earth orbit on Apollo 9. The Apollo 10 lunar "dress rehearsal" is briefly mentioned.

Yes, please. From the Earth to the Moon would be an instant buy for me.

Well I spent 30 minutes looking for my Q&A. Soooo here it is!

Solium: "Seems there's complete silence regarding the long desired score, "From the Earth to the Moon". Can you comment if you have this on your radar, and if a release is even possible?"

MV: "Anything is possible. It's definitely on our radar and one of the reasons we released the Great Buck Howard last year."

I wonder if the 1958 movie has been thought about, Jules Verne, Louis Forbes. Not aware of 1998 FTETTM looks interesting Kamen.

Oh, you big tease MV, bless you.

Release of the year for me, of any year in recent memory to be honest. A beautiful set of scores from great composers in a brilliant programme. It would be very special. Here's hoping!

Next year is the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, so I wouldn't be surprised in seeing some renewed interest in this series.

I'm actually kind of surprised "First Man" wasn't held until next year. It might have done better as part of an overall celebration of the 50th.
