So George was supposed to start filming THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING last month, I don't know if he still did, but I hope! He also had plans to start filming MAD MAX: FURIOSA soon. But the most important thing is for everyone to be safe.
Hard to imagine the havoc that the virus must be causing to film production even more than some other industries, where cast and crew scheduling is such a complex part of the process. I really feel for many of these artists whose projects may have been years in preparation, seeing things fall apart so suddenly and with the future so uncertain. As with so many other lines of work, it will be an opportunity for some real innovation when moviemaking is finally able to get underway again.
It’s especially sad to think what George Miller could be doing right now, seemingly at the height of his craft, with a longtime passion project in the works.
Looks like Chris Hemsworth might be in FURIOSA along with Jodie Comer or Anya Taylor-Joy as the recast Furiosa! FURIOSA takes place 20 years before FURY ROAD, and Miller isn't convinced with the de-aging technology which is why Charlize Theron isn't in the film. FURIOSA isn't a film Miller just threw together to cash in on FURY ROAD, it is actually part of the backstory Miller came up with for FURY ROAD decades ago. Miller is at the top of his game right now and I can't wait for FURIOSA and THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING! Miller is my all-time favorite director, writer and producer!
