Attention U.S. TCM Subscribers: This will be a really bad day for anyone who encounters Them! (the giant mutant ants that is). The motion picture, however, is an exhilarating creature feature. More here including (updated) Friday (Sept. 6, 2019) afternoon's showtime information throughout the U.S.):

Aww, you gave away who THEM! is. Are. Whatever.

ALIEN owes a debt to PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES, but ALIENS owes THEM! a mortgage.

An excellent film; probably the best of all the giant insect movies. I watch it about once a year.

Well, I'm sure we all wish the creatures were alittle better animated, and the bazooka effect is a tad fake, but everything else is perfect including the music, right from the start over the Warner logo. I still laugh out loud when Gwenn snaps at Whitmore in the helicopter - seems spontaneous rather than scripted.

Great atom era monster movie. What are some of the other great giant insect films from its time, besides The Incredible Shrinking Man, which isn't so much a giant insect film as it is a tiny human film?

Arthur likes this one! wink
I knew we'd had one of Them before. One of my faves of the b&w 50s scifi horror

Have you all seen them then? Ive seen them. But not seen them for a long time. Last time i saw them was when i was a kid. Watching them with my dad. He liked them too. We liked them better than the Incredible shrinking man. That was sad.

By happenstance turned on the TV at 9, went right to TCM and....had to watch it from Fess Parker-on. Never tire of it.

While Gwenn's final speech gives the ending some grim ambiguity, sometimes I wish THEM! won outright.

THEM! was screened poolside at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel during last April's TCM Classic Film Festival. We were all given antennae to wear during the movie. Such fun, and seeing this with an audience made it special.

I bet! I was there at the Roosevelt just last July! What a great "TCM" hotel! Staying there was a real treat!

Antennae? I love it. big grin
During the intermission did the audience start ferrying about large grains of sand twice their weight?

I just watched WILD NORTH(1952) and recognized a bit of Bronislau Kaper music used in THEM! (the montage of vehicles driving into the sewers). Speaking of the beasts conquering the earth, that movie has an intense wolf pack attack scene. Probably just dogs but the sheer number of them overwhelming the characters is pretty intense.
Maybe THEM could have used dogs...
