I am considering to purchase this score on CD after many years but with so many reissues on various labels, I would like to know what in your opinion would the best one to go for. Thanks for your help.
Don't buy the re-issue on the BUDDHA label, it's badly remastered, very badly.
Look for the original Living Stereo RCA recording, the sound on that is excellent considering the age of the recording.
The problem is that they have identical covers, the only way to tell is that the BUDDHA recording has a picture on the inside of the tray of the poster in yellow, the original just has a solid plastic tray with no picture.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
This is the cover of the version you want disc no. 1058-2-R

Thanks a million Chris. Will try to obtain the RCA issue now.

That's news to me. Every version I've heard of the Exodus original soundtrack on either LP or CD qualifies as being among the worst-sounding soundtracks I've ever bought. The Tadlow re-recording was a godsend.

Sadly I have to agree, though the most recent Sony remastered CD of the RCA LP line-up probably comes the closest to "passable" of any of the OST releases. I pretty much hate re-recordings except where original score tapes are non-existent or the sound is horrible, but the state of the RCA LP and its CD descendants is such that I do have the Tadlow EXODUS sitting on my shelf.

Agree. The original soundtrack was legendary for its horrible sound. I'm surprised anyone could think it was in any way acceptable, let alone "excellent".
Does anybody own this recording and can comment whether this is a plain copy&paste job of the 1980s US CD - or if it is a different transfer (copied from a sub-master or LP)?
Also, how does the mono LP compare to the compromised stereo version?
