Our recent discussion about The Cure has had me rummaging around through their "Dark Trilogy." Robert Smith and the boys provide some good driving-home-at-night music. I've had their song "Other Voices" spinning 'round inside my head.

Could Lady Gaga have taken the idea of her name from Lady Miss Kier, or Lady Keir (born Kierin Magenta Kirby) from the lead singer of Deee-Lite?

And could the latest male hair style seen around Los Angeles these days have been taken from Supa DJ Dmitry (born in Ukraine as Dmitry Brill) from this video made way back in 1990?

Never the less, I like the song.

Eric Clapton- "Cocaine"

Seems like this song was "everywhere" on 1970s FM radio. Don't know if it's too edgy for today's softy millennials.

The Smiths- Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others

Can't understand the "engineer toying with the levels" crap at the start, though.

Joe Perkins singing Little Eefin’ Annie (1963)

Backed up by Jimmie Riddle doing the Eefin’.

Trivia: After Jimmie Riddle and Jackie Phelps debuted on TV show Hee-Haw, with Riddle doing the Eefin' and Phelps doing the Hambone (Djuba), the two became pretty much inextricably linked and folks would talk about Eefin' as both combined.

wink

That harmonica riff drives me insane, and not in the usual good way!

Awful song, but I appreciate your candidness in admitting it's trapped between your ears.

The Smiths- "Rubber Ring"

"A sad fact widely known
The most impassionate song
To a lonely soul
Is so easily outgrown
But don't forget the songs
That made you smile
and the songs that made you cry..."

"It Never Rains in Southern California", Albert Hammond:

Thanks to my own referencing of the song in the Rain thread, this song from those directionless, depressing early '70s is now trapped in my head.

This has been my summer for exploring the deep tracks of the Bee Gees. "Rings Around the Moon" is not only my song of the day but my great smoochy song for this summer of '19:

Great song! I love Albert Hammond, some good stuff through the years. I'm going to see him in concert in October.

This actually invaded me last night and it continued on today.
Strap yourselves in.

Horslips:

What a great fookin' tune!
And the way Eamon Carr plays slightly ahead of the beat just kills me every time.
For 4 minutes the whole world is Irish. smile

(U2? Pfft.)
