I hate speaker wire. The ends are full of strands and messy. And if they get in your receiver they can ruin it. I much prefer optical cables with soundbars, it's a nice clean connection.

Many hi-fi amps require proper speaker plugs rather than bare wires ... and all speakers I’ve owned these last 15 years, maybe more, likewise. My Pioneer AV amp takes bare wires and, I agree, this is a pain. I much prefer my hi-fi amp which requires speaker plugs.

I hope henry's really talking about sex, otherwise this is a waste of a post.

I don't understand all the consternation concerning - of all things! - SPEAKER WIRE! I just twist them until they're nice and tight, then stick them into the connection! No problem!

I hate pudding skin, and I'm not ashamed to say it. I know it's a divisive issue.

YECK! I've ALWAYS been nauseated by pudding skin! How do you create one of those "vomit" emoticons?

My setup is fully running on speaker wire. The trick is to cut the cables longer than you need so that when the connection gets worn out you can cut it off and strip a new tip to insert. Never had an issue as long as you twist them tight before using.

That's what she said.

Banana plugs, if your terminals will accept them. Firm grip and easy to attach.

I've never gotten around to buying banana plugs. Now that I've read up on them I may give them a shot.

I use solid-core cable with banana plugs. The solid-core is the best option for screw terminals, too.

Like I said I have a sound bar using an optical cable which works great.

Put banana plugs on them. I use the ones at Lowes. You can get a good speaker cable with plugs attached. Blue Jean Cable is a co. I recommend.
