Maybe why that's why there was a quote from his score to "The Long Goodbye" in The Last Jedi. Maybe I missed it, but I never noticed any posts on this board pointing out the use of the song in the film... Curious too how it made it in there - Williams idea or Johnson's? If Johnson's, it shows a pretty deep familiarity with Williams' catalog (just like the Penelope track used in "Ted").

U mean those composers who lift and rehash... There's a lot of irony in your post, considering Williams has lifted and rehashed himself in the past. Point, set, match! No, townerbarry didn't put it correctly. You can lift and rehash yourself - the biggest names in classical music have done that. But it's a different thing if you have "Star Wars" or "JFK" or "Born on the 4th of July" or "A.I." in your arsenal and you lift from those scores and another to lift from, let's say the RC/MV sea of mediocrity... It is hilarious when people bash other composers for lifting and rehashing but give Williams a pass when he does it (like his wholesale borrowing of Delerue in Hook). It's mostly his Spielberg scores that have the temp track influence.

Was NOT talking about Johnny T..I was talking about that one composer that lifted and rehashed his own scores..over and over and over again..but..cannot today. Plus Tyler something nother....

He should retire. Well deserved. Frankly I don't think his music fits in with today's narrative. Time to move on. Maybe u can take over...please link your own music..so that others can hear the great potential. Waiting for your links!

And we all know that episode 9 will be the right place for him to stop. The end of the 'proper' series. The saga. Everything else is a spin-off, however good some of them might be.
