Can someone point to a few examples of the bad orchestral performance?

There aren't any. IIRC FSM the magazine started that in one of their reviews, or perhaps in one of their many Goldsmith articles.

Yavar's passion for Goldsmith has inspired me to revisit a number of his works that I've dismissed or never explored at all in the past - this being one of the later. Excited to get it and dive in.

Two for two right now with FINAL CONFLICT and Tadlow's THE SALAMANDER being strong-to-excellent works I've been enjoying a lot on this end of late. We'll see how this one stacks up!

Thanks for the vote of confidence! Glad you loved those two scores as I do. This one does sometimes have some synths you probably will not like, just to warn you. But I think the orchestral sections will win you over.

I'm suddenly thirsty and in the mood to live to 93. wink

Speaking of RAMBO III, wouldn't a more appropriate title be RAMBO II: FIRST BLOOD PART III?

LOL! Good one.

Listening to this right now in the 2005 remastering, and it already sounds vast, as if the orchestra stage is right in my living room.
Anyway, once again I notice how great the score is. Already at "Final Battle" and not a minute too long. Orchestra performance is not the sharpest and no match for the Berlin Philharmonic or the LSO, sure, but the music packs punch.

Yeah, I remember actually saying that in the 80's when Rambo: First Blood Part II was released, in reference to "what are they gonna call the next one?"
