(Couldn't find a general thread about Blake Neely's work on all four shows).

I'm a HUGE fan of these shows and specially the score by Blake Neely!
Yes, they can be a bit cheesy but I like cheesy razz
He has some really great melodies and he is very character theme driven. Which is something I like.

Just found out that he has finally uploaded hours of expanded score from each season from all the shows!
Around 4-5 hours of extra score! Gonna take me several days to finish this all!
There's so much, I have to make playlists in my iTunes for each show and add to that the cues I really enjoy.

This is truly awesome. Especially for me, Blindspot -- my favorite of anything Neely has ever done -- it was very sad that La-La Land went ahead with new season releases for all previous Neely shows but abandoned a follow-up to Blindspot's terrific Season 1 soundtrack.

Only thing is, doesn't seem like any of this is downloadable. That's too bad, but I guess understandable.

It's actually kind of painful...listening to the unreleased Blindspot right now, and it's so f***ing good. Just as good as I imagined it to be...but it's so sad to know that the only way I can listen to it is thru the site, and not out and about whenever and wherever I want. I wish to own, I wish to own! But yes, I will be happy with what I have and I'm hella grateful that Neely has allowed me to hear it at all!

If anyone knows that this can be downloaded and I'm missing something, please speak now!

Ack La-La Land please go back and release more Blindspot!!!

I really like Neely's work on these shows (although I watch DC's Legends of Tomorrow rather than Arrow). His Supergirl theme is one of my favorites along with his material for The Flash, although I'm bummed by the (hopefully temporary) "retirement" of the opening Supergirl theme for some much darker and less memorable opening music I suppose is tied into the "Reign" plotline this season. To me the Supergirl theme is one of the few memorable title tunes on TV right now so I hope it returns.

Thanks for sharing. I have no idea why he would post all this music for free listening -but we'll certainly take it.

Wow. His website is an amazing treasure trove. My first instinct was to look for First Daughter which he was working on with Michael Kamen when Kamen passed away. Gonna give this a listen. Nice piece from Neely on working on this project:

http://www.blakeneely.com/#page=listen§ion=film&item=first-daughter

"In early November 2003, my good friend and mentor Michael Kamen showed me an early cut of his new film. He said his idea was to score it as a fairy tale and played me 4 great themes he'd written. He asked me if I could take them and do full orchestral synth mockups to send to the director, Forest Whitaker. On November 17th, at around midnight, I emailed four cues to Michael for review. The next morning, I awoke to a horrible phone call: Michael had died.

In a surprisingly un-Hollywood move, rather than ask for another composer, Forest Whitaker immediately asked how we could honor Michael by using his music to score the film. Still grieving our loss but with an enormous sense of responsibility, I accepted the challenge and began what would become my most personally difficult yet gratifying project.

Forest and I worked closely throughout the many months of scoring. We spent many nights in my studio talking about the music, how Michael might do it, how I was trying to do it, the meaning of life, you name it. We even wrote songs together with Damon Elliott to give the entire musical score its own identity and sound world. We recorded a large orchestra and boys' choir for the final score and Forest's own daughter supplied our lead voice in the opening titles.

It was a surreal but wonderful time. I felt like Michael was next to me each night in the studio and on the podium in front of the orchestra. I miss him still. Fittingly, we finished the final mix of the final cue on Michael's birthday, April 15, 2004."

Holy balls, there's such thing as too much. I'm glad these are available for those who enjoy these presentations, but jeez. I enjoy some cues in these scores but cumulatively they're overwhelming and I definitely don't have the time to make reasonable playlists. Somtimes I really miss the days of "best of" albums. Like a 2-CD set of the best of Blake Neely's DCTV would be amazing, but having like 20 CDs of the stuff on my shelf is too much of a good thing, y'know.

But if you actually really love the music from these shows it's not too much!
A lot of tv shows have one album per season wink

I've watched Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl religiously from the start. I have all the blu-ray sets too, and while the scores are highly appropriate I do find them all a bit samey on CD. Any cue from The Flash could be swapped with any other cue from The Flash, really. I love when he introduces specific character motifs - like the one for Damien Darhk - but those are few and far between.

Also I must, on this rare occasion, disagree with Jeff Bond re: the Supergirl "theme" - it's never felt right to me. It's kinda dull. Especially apparent during crossover episodes/scores where it cuts in without any kind of action beats and cuts the pace dead. It's not even a theme, as such, more an extended motif. Such is the style of modern TV :-/

It's no more generic/intetchangable than The X Files or even modern Star Trek to less obsessive fans but yeah, sometimes it's too much.

So, I'm unfamiliar with all these DC Blake Neely scores (the shows, too) but I want to take advantage of the sale on LLL right now and pick up a couple. I'm most interested in The Flash and Supergirl.

Which 2 would you guys recommend? acathla? You seem to be very familiar with them...

Well, I couldn't wait. Late night impulsiveness. I went with seasons 1 of Flash and Supergirl and Crisis on Earth X for good measure. Thanks anyway!

Those are good picks, especially season 1 of Flash and Supergirl. For one thing, you get the pilot scores, which use an orchestra. A shame the rest of the scores don't.

Yes, good choices! The Flash: Season 1 and Supergirl: Season 1 are both GREAT albums!
Crisis on Earth-X as well. You get a little bit of everything.

I would also really recommend Arrow: Season 1!

This is my personal favorite cue (and theme) from the whole DC tv universe:

The final track on the Crisis album is also amazing! Its a mix between Barry/Iris and Oliver/Felicity themes.

And I think this is my favorite from the Supergirl series:

Yes, I'm a sucker for emotional score! lol!

So super excited for the new ones!!!
