Everyone knows that Jerry Goldsmith composed a considerable number of TV episodes for series such as Playhouse 90, Climax!, Studio One, General Electric Theater and so on.

With the success of the Thriller CD, superbly done, reconstructed and re-recorded by Tadlow, is there any possibility to consider doing other TV series as well?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great new year, everybody! ;-)

I'd be really interested in this. Although I have stated on numerous occasions, to the point of (your) exasperation, that my favourite Goldsmith period runs from roughly '64 to '79, the scores which appeared on the CD "Jerry Goldsmith: The Early Years, Volume One" are superb. "Volume One" included his CBS work from mostly 1959 I think (PLAYHOUSE 90, PERRY MASON, THE LINEUP, plus his library cues). It's a great CD, but I guess it didn't sell well or we'd have had a Volume Two (?)

I wonder how much more of his "early years" stuff still exists. If there's enough for a new release, and especially if the sound quality is as good as on the aforementioned CD, I'd much prefer the original tracks over a re-recording. I've been rewatching "The Twilight Zone" recently, and it's surprising the amount of times I'll hear JG's style in a few cues and later find that they were tracked in from earlier Playhouse 90 episodes for example. It's become almost a cliché to say that the composer didn't quite "find his voice" until the mid-'60s. Well, that may be partially true, but the quality of the writing on those early shows is top-notch.

I'm sure that Yavar must have done a breakdown of early unreleased Goldsmith. More from the CBS period would be great, but I'm not holding my breath.
