Doesn't look that funny . . . but it's a Seth MacFarlane show, so it seems likely it'll get a good score. Maybe Ron Jones will finally get to return to Star Trek, sort of?

It's Bruce Broughton!

Whoops, somehow I missed the existing thread. Sorry!

This looks silly, and I will watch it.

Did I miss something, was that "funny" ?
Have to say, didn't laugh once, but then that's not uncommon for Seth McFarlane. Seems to be the same jokes from his other shows.

I'm kinda the opposite of everyone else -- I don't care diddly-squat about STAR TREK, but I love MacFarlane's work (the type of American comedy I enjoy). So kinda looking forward to this, even if this premise was done with GALAXY QUEST years ago.

It's Bruce Broughton!

And Joel McNeely as far as I remember correctly?

Well this is frustrating. A Galaxy Quest-style Star Trek spoof TV show, made by a Trek fan and mostly directed by Trek luminaries (upcoming episodes to be directed by James L. Conway, Jonathan Frakes, Robert Duncan McNeill and, erm, Brannon Braga)... why did it have to be Seth McFarlane though? I suppose on the one hand, he's the only person who can get something like this made. On the other, while I really want to like him because he loves lots of stuff I love, and I'm sure he's a lovely chap, I unfortunately find his stuff annoyingly unfunny and laboured. Maybe he'll go for a different style of humour than he normally does (something a bit warmer and less mean-spirited), but the laugh-free trailer isn't promising.

I'll be surprised if this makes it to a second season, looks like exactly the kind of one joke high concept comedy that gets cancelled pretty quickly (see Son Of Zorn), but hopefully a soundtrack CD will be forthcoming.

It looks dreadful, but fingers crossed we get some good music from it.

What's wrong with you people? I watched the trailer with the sound turned off and even then I was creased up with hilarity. That bloke from Flash saying something to that other bloke! Rajesh's dad for once NOT on a laptop screen!

Interestingly, the uniforms are more Captain Scarlet than Star Trek.

Seth McFarlane painfully unfunny hack and yes those look like Captain Scarlet uniforms.

I wouldn't trust the 'sense of humour' here on FSM. That little trailer cracked me up. Can't wait to see the whole film (I'm not only a longtime FAMILY GUY fan, I'm also one of the few -- I guess -- who like the TED movies, especially the first).

I've seen worse. Can't wait to hear the music, in any event.

I hope it's like the Trek seris that he is spoofing: multiple different composers given a chance, with reoccurring favorites. So, Broughton, McNeely, Jones, Murphy, and some others here and there. How sweet would a Don Davis score be?

Heh. That's almost exactly how I feel about Kevin Smith. Love the man, hate his work.

I certainly cannot fault McFarlane's love of the source material. And it looks more TNG than TOS which is nice.

The great thing? McFarlane LOVES music. Good grief, the man can hum Battle in the Snow from The Empire Strikes Back from memory. (OK, that's not a big deal to anyone HERE...)

What's to trust? Humor is subjective. (Personally, it lost me at the hoary "toilet seat" gag.) If it makes you laugh, it makes you laugh. If it doesn't, no explanation can change your mind.

You know what else is subjective? What being a lovely chap is.

The trailer giggled me, I'll check this out. Great to see Bruce and Joel, that makes me smile!

It is not subjective. My sense of humour is superior, and all must strive to reach the same level.

I was just gonna dismiss this, but I watched the preview...and actually chuckled a few times. Fine, I'll try it.

The humor here isn't my cup of tea, but the score being a Broughton/McNeely collaboration is great news.

I do want to add that it looks quite a lot better than the other 'Star Trek' parody that will be released this year, "Unbelievable!!!!!," which will have a (probably excellent) Gerald Fried score.
