For reasons not worth going into, I've been trying to find the recording year of the Nic Raine/Prague recording of the Big Country Main title (the specific recording that replaced the Tony Bremner version of the Main Title on his Philharmonia recording). I know the Bremner was recorded in 1988. Can anyone confirm what year the updated Raine version was recorded? Thanks in advance if you can.
And while we're at it, why was the Bremner performance of the Main Title replaced with the Nic Raine one in the first place? I've always wondered about that.

I produced both...never happy with the performance that Chris Palmer let go and his "re-orchestration" of one tiny section...the "scotch-snap" on the Bremner version. (Susanna Moross was not too please either) So I wanted to record it again but still did not quite get it right with Nic...my fault entirely . Now that I know what I am doing...I will have a third stab to get it perfect as hope to release a special Moross set next year.
As to when I recorded the Prague version with Nic I haven't got a clue as one sessions rolls into another ...

A new set of Moross would be great.
I have the three sets conducted by Bremner, Bateman and Raine from Silva and love them. Great releases James, thank You!

Thank you for your swift reply. Now I can lay to rest that question; I always thought it must have been something like that. :-)
I'll second that comment. If the set contains the main title of The Big Country, I also hope it has the "Ride Into The Canyon" theme that many of us talked about when we discussed the book written about Moross and The Big Country. I'm excited now.
I'm trying to read between the lines of what James will record on the Moross compilation.
I have a feeling 'The War Lord' near complete, minus the Salter (which, though good, tends to overthrow Moross's intent when away from the visuals), and suites from the other major releases.

It'll be magic, whatever.
Nothing new....re editing, re mastering, re mixing all the Moross material I have recorded plus a couple of things I recorded years ago which never made it to CD. So a special 3 CD set....very limited edition...

Will the newly recorded main title to The Big Country be placed on the re release of your recording of the score?
