ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY---two rumors surfaced about ROGUE ONE.
The first rumor involves Mads Mikkelsen (CASINO ROYALE), "Mads Mikkelsen (Galen appears to be his name in the film) is kind of the key to the film in a way. He is a scientist that took over the Geonosian Death Star project. He solved several of the flaws the Empire could not and is sort of a revered person in the Empire for his contributions. However, Mikkelsen’s character is a Robert Oppenheimer-type character. Oppenheimer helped design the atomic bomb only to say, “Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.” The guilt “Galen” feels for his contributions to the Empire become too much and he defects, attempting to make things right. In order to do this, he enlists the help of his only daughter…."
Speculation is that the "only daughter" is Felicity Jones, who teams up with other Rebels and possibly mercenaries, to help her father destroy the Death Star he perfected.
The second rumor says Guy Henry (HARRY POTTER) will play an Imperial Officer in the movie.

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS---Samuel L. Jackson commented on the Lightsaber duels in THE FORCE AWAKENS, "It’s adventuresome and exciting in a way. I think the kids need to go to Lightsaber fight school, but that’s just me thinking that. They’ve got time to get better.”
Jackson also commented on his introduction to the STAR WARS prequels “I just want to run across the screen." But when he showed up in London for filming, things changed, “Then somebody came in and gave me some sides. I was like, ‘Who’s this?’ They said, ‘Well, Mace Windu is you.’ ‘Oh. Wait, I’m talking to Yoda? OK, all right! So I’m definitely not dying right now!’ Then somebody came in with a haliburton full of Lightsaber handles and said ‘pick one’ and I about died.”

FANTASTIC VOYAGE---Guillermo el Toro is in talks to direct the long-gestating James Cameron/20th Century remake of the 1966 movie that starred Stephen Boyd, Raquel Welch and Donald Pleasence.

THE WALKING DEAD---Frank Darabont, who was fired as series showrunner by AMC, filed a lawsuit against AMC claiming he was cheated out of "tens of millions of dollars of profits". As creator and showrunner, Darabont was entitled to 10% of the profits, but because he was fired in the middle of Season 2, he received only 7.5%.
Details of Darabont's court deposition were recently made public. He said, "Not only cutting [the budget] from $3.4 [million] to $3 [million], that was bad enough, but then they dropped the bomb on us that, oh, by the way, they're also keeping the tax credit. They're going to pocket the tax credit. So, between the two you've got a full 25% cut across the board."
Darabont added, "Now, that tax credit, by the way, was something that, again, you go back to the treatment of the cast and crew. The cast and crew were earning, busting their butts, leaving it all on the field, to earn. The fact that we couldn't then take that tax credit and put it on the screen or alleviate shooting conditions to any degree, I thought that was adding insult to injury. But again, our success had no bearing on that discussion according to him [producer Joel Stillerman]."
He blasted AMC executives, "When they did rarely show up on the [Georgia-based] set, [they] would ...drive in from the airport in their air conditioned car, race into the air conditioned tent we had there so the actors could have a break and not pass out from the heat, poke their heads out on occasion, and half an hour later jump back in their car and fly back to their air conditioned office in New York. I had a tremendous lack of respect for them."
Glen Mazzara, Darabont's top assistant, who replaced him after being fired, supported Darabont.

CRUELLA---Emma Stone (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) is in negotiations to star in the Walt Disney Pictures live-action movie about Cruella de Vil, the villainess of Disney's 1961 animated movie 101 DALMATIANS.

READY PLAYER ONE---Ben Mendelsohn (BLOODLINES) is negotiations to play the villain in the Steven Spielberg movie based on the novel.

BAD SANTA 2---Christina Hendricks (MAD MEN) will play with Billy Bob Thornton's love interest in the sequel.

HISTORY---History ordered two new series.
1. SIX is based on SEAL Team Six with each episode portraying a different mission. The first episode follows SEAL Team six pursuing a Taliban leader in Afghanistan and discover he's being aided by an American. The script is by William Broyles (APOLLO 13, CAST AWAY).
2. KNIGHTFALL follows the Knights Templar during the Crusades. Jeremy Renner is the producer and is expected to guest star.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL---two scripted series are underway.
1. BLOOD IVORY is about global animal and ivory contraband and how it is connected to drug trafficking and terrorism.
2. BARKSKINS is set in 17th century France and follows two woodcutters working for a feudal lord and their descendants for three centuries.

THE BURGESS BOYS---HBO/Robert Redford miniseries underway based on the novel about two brothers who killed their father in a freak accident. Also, HBO renewed GIRLS for Season 4 which will be the last season.

MISS SLOANE---Jessica Chastain stars in this movie about a lobbyist who seeks tougher federal laws against guns.

TROLLS---DreamWorks Animation movie underway based on the 1960s troll dolls with vices by Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, Gwen Stefani and James Corden.

AMERICAN CRIME STORY---Season 2 will focus on a group of survivors during Hurricane Katrina.

I guess Thornton's girl from the first film wasn't that much of a deal to him.

Oh, man, it's worse than that -- Timberlake is the executive music producer for the film and is doing songs.

I've heard enough. This will end the same way the recent "Smurfs" movie did: so terrible you struggle to even watch a "Nostalgia Critic" review on it.

Could be a brilliant back story if the regretful scientist was purposely responsible for implementing the "weak link" (the thermal exhaust port) in the Death Star design.

Star Wars: RO. How did Vader describe the DS in 1 - was it:

A) A technological marvel

B) A mechanical bomb

C) A technological terror

D) A disturbing lack of faith.

Edit - All that "soldier blue" defecting from the Empire is getting a little contagious . . .

I personally found the lightsabre fights in the prequels a bit monotonous. The stuff with Darth Maul was good but by the time it got to Episode III I was getting bored senseless.

I quite liked the less acrobatic stuff in Episode VII although I have to say camerawork and editing for the duel between Rey and Kylo Ren wasn't great.

The duel between Luke and Vader is still, IMHO, the best lightsabre fight of the whole series - it actually looked dangerous, which none of the others have done in my view.

I will repeat what I already put in my "CGI Burnout" thread:

You know, a new version of FANTASTIC VOYAGE with CGI internal organs*, might be pretty gosh-darned fabulous, and would bring me out of my burnout on CGI, I'll bet.

*plus Hugh Jackman doing the Raquel Welch wetsuit... er... uh, I mean role

What's more, isn't Cruella British?

"Halliburton" (with 2 L's) is a brand name of aluminum attache case. The name of the American oil company is not merely coincidental, as Erle P. Halliburton, the oil field engineer which the oil company is named after, was one of the first executives to require such a durable article of luggage in his work. He helped develop the design of these cases, and now the leading manufacturer of them bears his name as well.

Yeah, British. Just like Glenn Close.

The original book does describe her as being English, but her original voice portrayal in the Disney cartoon was by Betty Lou Gerson from Chatanooga, Tennessee.

No one seems to mind that the definitive big-screen Robin Hood was played by an Australian. And James Bond is English but many people still feel his finest portrayer is a Scot.

Well, after they made a movie about Maleficent, this surprises you?

Truth be told, I adore Emma Stone and think shes a very good actress, but even this announcement made me... hesitate.

thanks! It's misspelled in the quote which explains why I didnt find any relevant info. I've never heard those cases referred to with a brand name, although maybe everyone else has.

I don't see how they do the entering the human body thing again. After INNERSPACE the concept is just too camp now, and when you watch FANTASTIC VOYAGE now, the drama of it is rather turgid these days. I don't think it works for anyone other than kids.

Well, histology's come a long way in the last few decades. I suppose they could go for realism with microscopic body structures, include cell types that weren't known or understood previously, etc. They could make it look completely different from what had come before. Make it topical by involving a disease that's currently of interest.

I'm afraid it's taken so long to re-make this movie that I'm going to have to re-cast.

Jackman has aged out of the role of Peterson, but will do fine as the protective (love interest) Agent Grant.

But now who to play the impossibly well-built and not-entirely-important-to-the-plot love interest "Carl (nee Cora) Peterson"?

Someone who will look great in skin-tight wetsuits. Maybe one of the Chris'?

Chris Pine?

Chris Pratt?

Chris Hemsworth?

Chris Evans?

"The first COVID-19 film, made entirely at social distance. A team of scientist chase down the Corona Virus in Patient Zero. Will they make it? Can they save the world?"

Timely, awesome possibilities for CGI...

and any of the Chris' could handle this scene, no problem-o!
