I am pretty sure the nominees for best original score will be: Inside Out (Michael Giacchino) Carol (Carter Burwell) Star Wars: The Force Awakens (John Williams) The Hateful Eight (Ennio Morricone) Bridge of Spies (Thomas Newman) Sounds plausible. Much as I was saddened by Horner's premature departure, I don't think The 33 represents his best work.

If there is any justice, the "Sicario" score will be nominated for the Oscar. The music is amazing and is perfect for the film. "Bridge of Spies"? Really? I love Thomas Newman but his score for the Spielberg film is anything but memorable, not to mention that last piece during the epilogue that should have been removed from the picture.

Why should it have been removed from the picture? Because it was too good? Unless you're talking about that terribly cheap-sounding trumpet, in which case I agree. What the hell was that all about?

It's so "over the top". A somber piano or just no music at all would have worked much better.

I'd like Sicario to win best score from what I've heard this year. I really enjoy that, not seenit in the film. But musically I just really enjoyed it. Hateful 8 is okay though I've only listened to it a few times and I think the repetition if the theme might grate me. The Force Awakens isn't particularly memorable after 5 or 6 spins. At least on disc it never seems to get going. I sort of don't think it even deserves nominating to be honest. Really disappointed. I've only heard The Walk and Bridge of Spies a couple of times but can't recall them and haven't seen the films.

This has been a strong year. Quite a few could be worthy winners: I'd like to see Thomas Newman win, finally after being nominated so many times. Would also love Ennio to win in the best score category John Williams at 83 scoring a new SW movie and winning an oscar would be stunning. Not easy this year.
