Stumbled upon this composer penning several Star Wars games... I must be late to the game because I am amazed how this guy emulates Williams. His action music seems right up there with Williams 90's style. Seriously amazed this guy doesn't seem to be talked about that much. This guy seems like he would fit perfectly penning the "other" star wars films, no?? http://www.gordyhaab.com
No, I think Mike Verta is doing the best and most uncanny "Williams pastiche" out there, but thanks for the tips on this Haab guy. I think pastiche is a fascinating artform (yes, an artform!), and I'm always interested in hearing more takes on a famous composer's stylings.

The biggest issue I have with these impersonators, especially the Star Wars video game composers, is that they basically take already existing Williams cues (mostly prequels) and just re-arrange them... change a note here, change a note there. I don't mind it if a composer works in another composer style... just stop rip off cues and calling them your own.
Verta and Kaska are very good at doing Williams without completely ripping him off but at times I do find them aping stuff that we've already heard before. Kaska's Atlantis set piece on his Tone Poems album is pretty much action music from AOTC, ROTS and Harry Potter all mixed together. But it's still a boatload of fun to listen to.
BTW, if I had my choice my preferred Star Wars replacements would be Kevin Kaska, Andrew Pearce, and then Mike Verta.
Post some samples, people, come on. kevin kaskas the golden falcon is on youtube.just searcj for kevin kaska.the cue is from his tone poems cd which is just glorious and sounds like something staight from an indiana jones movie.LSO performance is wonderfull.

OT - Does the Shift Key and Space Bar not work on your keyboard?
You can hear music from Kaska, Pearce, and Verta by clicking that link. You can also hear some spectacular music from Peter Boyer and David Coscina as well.
-Erik- i had it from day one, but could use more like that.hannigan can also write great goldsmith and williams btw.his command and conquer theme sounds like a new star trek show main title.not to metion the harry potter 5 and 6 gamescores which are much better than hoppers filmscores imho.
