I love the Silva Bond compilations, never had any issues with the performances (other than that incorrect note on the instrumental of If There Was A Man from TLD).

I'd love a Volume III, but since James Fitzpatrick is no longer with SS, I think the likelihood is pretty much zero.

but I could always suggest it to Rick at Silva ....

If rights are obtained, an expanded Moonraker rerecording would surely sell well and would be much less expensive than 'King Of Kings'.

Has to be worth a shot, James?

Quite honestly, I'd prefer further BBIA volumes over a complete "Moonraker" re-recording since there are many cues from the earlier movies which are known to exist only in archival sound at the very best.

A complete Moonraker would be great, but it would also be easy for them to mop up some of the missing tracks (in amongst including some of the more recent title songs) to complete several soundtracks in one hit.

Moonraker only has 10 or 12 minutes missing, Octopussy and FYEO something similar. I'm sure it would sell well especially if title tracks like Skyfall were included to attract more general fans.

I brought up recording the missing cues here in late 2017. Didn't get much traction then, good to see there's more interest now:

Well here's my post from Jan 2015 so WTF do I know?
I'l say it now. I think Moonraker (expanded) WILL be released at some point. The question is whether it will be a re-recording or expanded orginal. Timescale - Before this time next year

Three years later
The BBIA releases served a purpose at the time (pre-expanded releases) but many of the cues were overtaken by the expanded releases. Plus I couldn't really see the point of many of them as they were just re-recordings of tracks that were already easily accessible.

And some were edited as the originals were classed as being repeating cues e.g. Gumbold's Safe. Which is true, but the point of the original track was that it built up the tension.

I very rarely listen to them now. Probably the Chateau music and Freefall from Moonraker were the highlights. Plus Flight Into Space which has a much better choral section, though if the original could be tidied up, that would be amazing.

But now, I don't think we'll ever see these, or any of the remaining Bonds, released in expanded form (though I hope I'm as wrong with this prediction as my one from 2015!)

There is a case to be made for an album which records still as-yet unreleased music from the first 25 years of Bond instead of a singular MOONRAKER reconstruction, but I'm genuinely up for either.

The case for a singular MOONRAKER reconstruction is that it is, in my opinion, far and away the best of the Bond scores not yet given the expanded treatment and the sound quality on the released album is, frankly, shit.

But whichever way this goes, if it goes any way at all, I just need an improvement on the original BBIA albums. I really am sorry to say it (again) since I love everyone so, but many of those tracks were some way off being correct for me. Even the Moonraker tracks. But things have gotten so much better over the years I am 100% confident reconstructions made today would be far superior.

Of the Barry scores, there is still unreleased music from:

From Russia With Love
Goldfinger
Thunderball - still about 20 minutes apparently
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
The Man With The Golden Gun
Moonraker
Octopussy
A View To A Kill
The Living Daylights

(There is like one 'stinger' missing from Diamonds Are Forever, but it's like three seconds of music so really not worth mentioning.)

Not to mention I'd love a 'film version' of Ride To Atlantis from SPY as well as the 'film version' of the underwater action music when the Lotus Esprit meets Stromberg's underwater defence forces.

But whichever way this goes, I'm totally in. If it happens.

Cheers

The Die Another Day release from LLL opens the possibility that the Bond producers will open their vaults allowing further expansions. So it seems that Mrs. Barry has an issue with releasing the music? Why I wonder?

So when you say that the tracks are off on BBIA, do you mean that they are unsatisfactory performances or that the transcriptions are not note perfect?

Ideally I'd want the sound of the rerecording to be spot on, but I'd be happy with a close attempt rather than nothing, especially where there are tracks on the earlier albums that are lost and cannot ever be released now.

I'm with you, I'd be happy with either a complete Moonraker or a third BBIA with more unreleased cues. I hope that they can be persuaded to give it a go.

I hope this can finally happen. There are real John Barry treasures not already on the expanded CDs. I am salivating at the thought of hearing that easy listening ice rink fanfare for OHMSS. The Dehli intro for Octopussy etc. Please, please, JamesFitz and Nic Raine. Should you need any legal assistance, I will be happy to help free of charge.

I wonder why there was a problem with getting clearance for the Moonraker rerecording, when you can see lots of CDs available of James Bond Themes, with many so poor that they surely are tarnishing the reputation of the music of the Bond series.
