Is Kirk more intelligent than Spock? In the Star Trek episode "This Side of Paradise", Kirk broke the spores' influence on Spock's brain (no pun) by drawing out strong emotions. Why didn't the supposedly more intelligent Spock realize this, or was he doing all his thinking "below the belt"?
Clearly Spock was under the influence and couldn't break free of it. Kirk knew the way to snap him out of it was to draw out the primeval Vulcan from within.
