There were also five volumes released on CD in Japan in the early '90s (each volume was released individually), but the total running time of those five discs is about 30 minutes less than the four-disc Silva set.
Isn't most of it featured as isolated tracks on the dvd/blu-ray releases?
On the Image DVD box set most episodes are. You can sometimes hear faint dialogue in the background and the music is spaced out with long pauses in between. I don't know if the Blu-ray has isolated tracks for all episodes. It would be nice to see all episode scores released as a Twilight Zone CD box set.

Was it the same selections on the Japanese discs, or different?
The Silva set had everything from the Japanese discs (which had everything from the Varèse LPs), plus a suite of Herrmann cues from the CBS Music Library which were used in many "Twilight Zone" episodes.
While I'm glad to have the scores on isolated tracks I get impatient with the long silences in between. One spends hours listening to silence between cues.

Well you can rip the tracks and edit them together, I'm sure there are fans who have already done that. The blu-ray collection is getting cheaper and cheaper, if the complete set gets around 80 $ I think I will take the plunge.
I watched the price go up and down over the past couple of months and finally clicked Buy It Now when the blu-ray box-set hit $112 on amazon. That's where it is today, $112. I doubt it will get any cheaper since the episodes only / no extras edition sells for $75.

I got the complete series set for $60 just last month.
On another thread on here, best way to reconstruct twilight zone is 5 disc Varese or 4 disc silva, plus Herrmann at cbs vol 1 and 2. There are cues on Herrmann at cbs used in the zone.
Best of twilight zone cares volume 1 and 2 are not same as volume 1 and 2 of 5 volume Varese. They're highlights.
Also believe producer for silva said on here identical music to Varese. ?except for Herrmann suites. Some have argued different sound quality.
I was told by somebody in the know that all of the "Twilight Zone" scores presented on the Varèse/SLC/Silva CDs are actually rerecordings done soon after the original scores were recorded. At the time, the production company would rerecord the scores overseas before the next season began, to use as library cues in the future. (Union rules meant they couldn't continue to use last season's American recordings the following season.) That's why no scores from the fifth and final season of the show are featured on any of those CDs.
