Are you working on the liner notes, Jeff Bond?

Rogue One was recorded in LA with union musicians, so the re-use fees would be pretty pricey. Solo was recorded in London.

True, but Giacchino is an Oscar-winner and has clout at the studio. They'll spend the money if he makes it an issue for them. My opinion only.

I suspect JW being a fan of Powell's helped...

He hasn't given any new updates, however, his instagram does have a countdown timer running that ends on November 20th, so that's probably when it's coming out.

No CD = no sale

Keep in mind that every single time he writes that, it won't prevent him from downloading it illegally... !

Sounds good by me. Don't make it available for physical purchase, be open to illegal downloads. Not how I would do it, but I fully understand why - if the company producing the music doesn't value it enough to make it properly available to fans, then why would many of the people who want to own a physical copy?

"Properly available" to fans? Most people don't want CDs anymore so the companies are giving them what they want.

What you are doing is just stealing.

Most who? Not film score fans. I would say the majority of film score fans still want a physical copy. If this was the latest Shawn Mendez album, I might be apt to agree with you. But it’s a film score, and we’re not the “cool kids”. We still play our music through decent sound systems.

*snip* We still play our music through decent sound systems.

Which is not possible with lossless downloads? What am I missing here?

It's perfectly easy to play a lossless download through a decent sound system. You just need a NAS device and a high quality network player in your hi-fi rack. Personally I have the Cambridge Audio CXNv2 which is a magnificent (albeit not cheap) machine. It has Tidal built in too.

I doubt it. Most film score fans aren’t even on this board. I reckon the majority on *this* board are perfectly happy with virtual releases, with the exception of a very, very verbal minority.

I suppose this board is about collecting the physical product and the majority here wants CDs. With booklets, well written texts and nice artwork.
