But not nearly as silly as refusing to buy a CD because of the type of packing it's housed in

Indeed. Those people need to seek professional help.

I wonder why Faltermeyer left out out the intro bass drone and rising pad from the CD-mix.

Part one or two?

The intro to part 2.

I would have preferred the film-mix:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nllSQP4ADk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK_lE3-8SCY (first minute)

That's very disappointing. The missing bass drone in the opening and Shakedown not being the film version make this release a very easy pass for me. It's a shame such a highly anticipated release is bungled. I suppose it's too much to hope La La Land fixes these issues and reissues the disc?

Some quick clarifications here. For this release the original 4-track (LCRS) digital mixes were used. The opening bass drone is not as pronounced on those reels. What you hear is what was delivered to the mix stage. My theory is that it was a late change done on the stage when it was played up against the new animated 75th anniversary Paramount logo. Regardless, what you want is something that is not on the original music reels.

Regarding the song, while I wasn't privy to those discussions, it's not uncommon for a reissue to have to stick with a previously released version.

So your description of the album being "bungled" is off the mark and asking for it to be fixed is also an unrealistic request. It's not broken. In both cases you're hearing artist approved versions.

Happy 2017!

Neil

As far as the most recent posts go, LK's quote " don't let perfect be the enemy of good" seems appropriate.
Appreciate what we have because it's wayyyy better than nothing.

Almost two months later and this is still on heavy rotation for me.

I'm starting to become of the opinion that the credits should read "Axel Foley - portrayed by Eddie Murphy and Harold Faltermeyer."

I can't really explain why this music resonates with me so well... but it does. Maybe it has something to do with notion that (as far as I know) Harold's a one man band in the performance of the score. Every note is written, programmed and performed by Harold alone. I think this is unique in the annals of film composition (?) with maybe only Moroder and Anton Karas's Third Man score coming to mind.

Moroder mostly didn't perform much of his music himself. He left that to guys like Faltermeyer, Levay, Chang, Forsey, Marinelli and Banks.

Moroder did play a few parts here and there on his productions but not that often. He's not a very good keyboard player.

Other keyboard players and synth programmers who have been working for Moroder include F.B. Muschler, Robert "Robby" Wedel, Dan Wyman, Greg Mathieson, Arthur Barrow and Kristian Schultze.

Can't get enough of these scores. Still listening to them on a daily basis.
"Goodbye" from BHC2 is one of my new favorites that goes on pretty much every playlist I make. Such an uplifting bit of music. Ahhh I miss the 80s..

I agree. It's a cue that I never really thought about too much, but upon rediscovering it with this release, it's become a new favorite for me.

A lot of 30-second and 1-minute gems in these scores that are so catchy. "Shoot Screens" is another one of them that I have on repeat, and I can't explain why except that I'm glad to finally have it, clean and with no gunshot effects

According to Amazon.ca, the pop song compilation for this title is being re-released on April 7. Does anyone know if the Keta Bill song "Hold On" is being added to this release? Are there any posters on this board who work at Universal Music who could add this title to the CD for us? Anyone who wants to put pressure on the label to add this song to the upcoming CD should write to:

Universal Music
70 Universal City Plaza
Universal City, CA
91608
U.S.A.

or

Universal Music Canada
2450 Victoria Park Avenue, Suite 1
Toronto, Ontario
M2J 5H3

Does this label pay attention to fan demand when deciding which songs to add to a re-release?

Are you kidding? ;-) It's only a japanese re-issue of previously released material. Same content.

Is there anyone here who has an American/Canadian release of BHC II on CD? Does this release include the white insert with the song lyrics in English on it? The Japanese re-issue has this insert but the beginning few pages of text are in Japanese only. Only the song lyrics are in English for this version. I'm looking for this insert in English only. The Japanese re-issue has no legible mailing address on it. I tried contacting Universal Music Canada but their customer service told me that they don't have the catalog number for the Japanese re-issue in their database. I'm waiting for a more senior sales person to get back to me. Has anyone had this issue with Universal before?

Thanks for the info First Breath but your website doesn't tell me whether the American release has the white insert or not.

Is there anyone here who has the American release and can check to make sure that it contains the white insert with the song lyrics and text in English only?

The sales reps at Universal Music Canada won't answer their phones and won't return any messages. Their names are JESSE LATTFORD at 416-718-4115 and PAULA STEINECKER at
416-718-4089. I encourage everyone here who cares about customer service to call them and give them a piece of their minds about this rotten behaviour.

Just glad I picked both up not long ago, wasn't they supposed to be running low, that's what triggered me before the dreaded OOP.

Hi, I just orders Beverly Hills Cop II during the current LLL sale & was having issues finding a chronological playlist that also slots in the songs included on the LLL release. It does seem like "Bad Guys" doesn't appear in the film, but I was wondering where "All Revved Up" appears. This is what I have for now. Thanks in advance.

I don’t think it is. I have a feeling that it was supposed to be the End Credits but they went with the James Ingram song instead.
