While this video has been up on YouTube for eight years I just discovered it. It contains an early version of Dragon's Lair game play with many sequences cut from the final release.
This appears to be the Japanese answer to Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. A 2D animated laser disc game. Some scenes and play thru were clearly inspired by both of Bluth's games. Time Gal is new to me or I at least don't recall the game.
There were two other Japanese laser disc games I was aware of (and played) in the 80's. One was called "Cliffhanger" which used footage from the movie Lupin the 3rd The Castle of Cagliostro.
The other was called "Cobra Command" which used original animation produced in Japan. In this other game you were a helicopter pilot battling enemy helicopters, tanks and ships.
I love this style of Japanese animation during this period! I played both Cliffhanger and Cobra Command as much as Dragon's Lair and Space Ace.
A Japanese OVA series from the 90's. Kinda of a mix between Kolchak: The Night Stalker and Ghostbusters. Only one video in the series was released. I guess it didn't sell well. This was one of the first anime's I ever purchases on VHS! Still own it along with the soundtrack. I love the opening and closing theme songs.
Star Blazer was the English dub version of the Japanese anime Space Battleship Yamato which aired in the US during the 70's and 80's. I found this on YouTube in excellent quality. It was probably the first cartoon that ever aired in the US which had a continuing story line and mature themes. For the life of me I don't know why we never got a release of this on Blu Ray.
Probably only of interest to me but I discovered someone did an unofficial 1080 upscale of Don Bluth's short film Banjo the Woodpile Cat. Absolutely amazing remastering. This title only received a DVD release and is not available on Blu Ray or HD streamig.
Not to be confused with the Hanna-Barbera classic Godzilla cartoon, this was based off of the dreadful 1998 American Godzilla film. I had no idea this existed until about a decade ago. While I don't like the live action movie and don't consider this Godzilla, the animated series isn't half bad looking. I would've watched it back in the 90's if I knew it existed.
Speaking of which, here's the 70's Godzilla cartoon. It's quit dreadful. Even as a kid I knew this looked or sounded nothing like Godzilla and Godzooky was just cringe worthy. From my recollection Toho never allowed an American adaption of Godzilla to look or sound like its Japanese counterpart.

I loved this cartoon as a kid. I even have the DVD of the series.

Wow, cool its available on DVD. Maybe I'll give it a second chance.
