Heh, I would LOVE a complete new recording of Under Fire with...well... some of the synths (the ones I find grating) replaced with acoustic instruments. But I think I'm probably in the minority as most people seem to just adore that score as-is. And if complete tapes don't survive for Link I'd buy a complete new recording of that too. But yeah, this project is just for scores which were all-synth originally, and therefore "orchestrated" by Jerry for a synth "ensemble" which could be translated to orchestra. When Jerry already HAS an orchestra, he tends to treat synths as special instruments for color/flavor, rather than as the ensemble itself. Yavar

Ok, at approximately the nine-day mark, here's where the FSM forum stands (I am not counting votes from myself or Thor because we voted elsewhere; I hope other folks can avoid voting in multiple places...) 1. 1950s - Jerry Goldsmith at The CBS Radio Workshop (1956-1957): 14 votes 2. 1960s - Thriller Volume 3 (1960-1961): 8 votes 3. 1970s - Pursuit/Crawlspace (1972): 25 votes 4. 1980s - All-Synth "Trilogy", Orchestrated (1984-1988): 18 votes Here are the results from the JWFan forum: 1. 1950s - Jerry Goldsmith at The CBS Radio Workshop (1956-1957): 6 votes 2. 1960s - Thriller Volume 3 (1960-1961): 1 vote 3. 1970s - Pursuit/Crawlspace (1972): 8 votes 4. 1980s - All-Synth "Trilogy", Orchestrated (1984-1988): 9 votes Here are the results from Facebook, where I posted the poll at The Cult of Jerry and Leigh shared it more widely thereafter: 1. 1950s - Jerry Goldsmith at The CBS Radio Workshop (1956-1957): 25 votes 2. 1960s - Thriller Volume 3 (1960-1961): 14 votes 3. 1970s - Pursuit/Crawlspace (1972): 39 votes 4. 1980s - All-Synth "Trilogy", Orchestrated (1984-1988): 29 votes And the Jerry Goldsmith Online forum has had pretty minimal traffic since it got a new system a few months back, but three votes were put in -- all for CBS Radio Workshop. So here's a grand tally and ranking taking all four places into account: FIRST PLACE: Pursuit/Crawlspace, with a whopping 72 people voting for it as their top choice! SECOND PLACE: the All-Synth "Trilogy", Orchestrated, with 56 THIRD PLACE: Jerry Goldsmith at The CBS Radio Workshop, with 48 Thriller Vol. 3 brings up the rear with only 23 people preferring it as their #1 choice... but that's still a healthy number of people, and it is impressive enough that it made it through the first round! Thanks to all for participating, and I'll just point out what Leigh himself said above for anyone who missed it: "To be honest, I'm happy to do all/any of them; but these polls are just a way to get a good feel for the temperature regarding certain projects. "Lionheart" is never off the table for me, as it's something I've always wanted to do (*personally*) for a long time. The responses to these two polls are giving me a lot to consider, so I'm grateful for the participation." Lots of food for thought here, and good options (all with a lot of support) for what to tackle next. So if your own pick didn't win, don't assume it's never happening. (After all, CBS Radio Workshop scores have much smaller ensembles than the two options which beat it and that's always a factor to consider as well.) Yavar

Thank you Yavar for conducting this poll from beginning to end. My pleasure, Thierry! So now Leigh knows that all propositions have their own supporters to a certain degree, according to their preferencies, but also that most of us would nevertheless eventually support whatever will come in the first place as any confirmed project, depending on various technical or budget issues of him. Yes, I loved that aspect of the polling feedback. For the first round of this poll all six options encouragingly received a great deal of enthusiastic support, some of them only barely missing out on making it through to the second round. And for the first day of this second round, three of the four options were virtually tied! Over the subsequent week the Pursuit/Crawlspace twofer really pulled ahead of course, but there's still clearly interest in ALL of it which is incredibly encouraging. (Contrast this with Intrada's last Kickstarter poll, where The Chairman and The Jungle Book options were way, WAY in front of everything else and were the two clear favorites.) What matters most at the end of the day is to support Leigh whatever he does, because he is one of the very few to have such a committment and interest into this old obscure radio, television or feature film music. Well clearly there are a decent number of us, or his Kickstarters wouldn't be successful. But I'm certainly grateful for him, because he seems the most willing to put long hours into restoring some of the most obscure works in Goldsmith's output. We are all very fortunate that he finds such projects so personally fulfilling. Yavar
