Most titles within Mr. Redman's collection already reside in my own.

Probably true for a number of us.

It's interesting (to me) to see that there doesn't seem to be any Italian soundtracks in Redman's collection - and hardly any European labels are represented even when they produced albums of Hollywood soundtracks.

Didn't Mr. Redman ever own anything by Music Box or Quartet records, let alone items on Digitmovies, Kronos, Alhambra, etc.?

Well, I don't think his entire collection is here... Plus I 'm sure was an appraisal beforehand.

I would imagine this is just the first batch - the original message refers to "his entire extensive collection". I've got about 600 CDs in my living room alone (~160 of Jerry Goldsmith alone) and another 1000+ in my spare room and elsewhere, and I wouldn't consider my collection anything close to extensive.

Unless I'm mistaken they're mostly titles he worked on and/or received copies of. I don't think there is necessarily just one copy of each for sale.

Yes, I did a random check of about five or six titles, and Nick Redman is producer or executive producer on the ones I saw at least. So I don't expect to see everything he ever bought in thrift stores etc up for sale, but I could be wrong.

By the way - and I hate to sound like I'm on my soapbox and taking a high moral ground - but I find some of these comments and criticisms about the high prices to be distasteful under the circumstances. You may think, "So what?".

It looks like some titles are still being added to the sale as this morning when I clicked on the link it seemed two more titles were added:

The Wind and the Lion
Take a Hard Ride

Moral Ground on PRICING of CD's??! Are you kidding me? Stay down. SAE's price mark's have nothing to do with Mr. Redman or his passing and are no reflection on him or his legacy. I assume this the the "circumstance" you refer to. Once he donated his CD's to SAE-they did the rest. Mr. Redman likely did not set the prices now did he?

SAE is SAE and SAE set's their prices for used CD's. They also give you shit prices for your cd's if you are silly enough to see to them. Again, nothing at all to do with Mr. Redman.

Absolutely no one is dissing Mr. Redman. And it was likely his family who sold his stuff to SAE for liquidation.

Right, okay... It's obvious that my lack of business acumen has led me to the failure in life wot I am.

So, the Redman family/estate/executors donated (or sold for 10 bucks) his collection to SAE and now they (SAE) are making a mint out of it? Is that basically it? Sorry for being a bit thick.

I don't think any details were given except SAE was handling his retail CDs. Maybe they are donating their time/store to do this. Regardless, I can see both sides to the "argument." A third view is the whole thing is a tad morbid, like Scrooge's housekeepers who resell his posthumous belongings.
The rare items that Bruce arranged to be auctioned might be more relevant as mementos, but they'll probably be too expensive for the average fan due to their own inherent value.

Nick is beloved by all here.
This sale has.nothing to do with the man.
If SAE wants.to sell these publicly and publicize it on this site, all is fair.

I ordered The Omega Man.

Although I have a stack of un-listened to items, I usually put new arrivals at the bottom of the pile; the least I can do listen to this one as soon as it arrives in Willesden.

A great Grainer score CindyLover, I will give my copy a spin later in the day and perhaps you will be able to hear it from Kingsbury NW9

ALL OF THE ABOVE SHOULD BE IN ITALICS. NOW THIS IS ME -

Mr Marshmallow (and Mr McCurry, sick), you're missing the point. Read solium's post. Absolutely no-one is dissing Nick Redman. Perhaps I expressed myself badly. Due to not really reading the details of the "liquidation" process, I kind of half-assumed (my fault) that perhaps Julie Kirgo, his widow, had come to some kind of financial agreement for handing over Mr Redman's collection to SAE. And then to see people complaining about the prices... well, I found it in poor taste. That's all I meant.

You may now call me a nutmeg for misunderstanding the world of big business (and, apparently, "computers").

Hope they buy it from you Bruce.

I'd call it bad taste trying to rip off people using someone's legacy.

You certainly wouldn't be interested in his music anyway. Mr. Redman had good taste.

Did anyone buy any CDs from the collection? Seems like very little was sold with those prices since SAE just sent out another e-mail about it.
