I also have been watching THE CLONE WARS animated series, I bought the Blu-ray set and am enjoying it.

I started watching Star Wars Rebels on Disney Plus and will watch The Clone Wars next. Love The Rise of Skywalker too, warts and all smile

I do hope though that we get some of that unreleased music, as there's some great stuff there.

I'm very annoyed that the music for Rey's Training montage isn't on the album. Lovely bit of work.

Shocking that it was left off, considering it's the MENU music (for the digital version, at least) AND they highlight it in the documentary about the score!

Yeah whoever assembled the album was asleep at the wheel. Even if it was Williams himself.

That little documentary on Williams scoring the Ep 9 was fantastic. Great 10 minute featurette.

As the dust settles on the (some would say*) ill-fated Disney STAR WARS trilogy, I find myself playing and enjoying this score the most out of the three.
I really enjoy THE FORCE AWAKENS album for the intro of the new themes and material (Rey's Theme etc) but I struggle with THE LAST JEDI somewhat (and I'd have to re-watch the film to check, but I think it's easily the worst of the 3 films...even below the mess that was TROS).
THE RISE OF SKYWALKER CD has a nice flow to it and with the title track and Speeder Chase, two of my favourite cues from this trilogy.
There's also the Resistance music and some great dark, choral music for the new (old) baddie.
Add the religioso style scoring for Ren and Rey and a revisit from some classic old SW themes and it's a really good album from start to finish.
There are some cues that missed the cut from the film (Rey's Training) which I would love to have on an expanded edition...hope springs eternal on that one, I guess.
Any others rate this top of the Disney SW music pile?

*although not Disney, who made a good few billion $ from the 3 films, but as a fan, it was sad to see the killing off of the three main legacy characters as a redemption for failure kind of thing.

I wouldn't necessarily blame Disney for all this: Solo's sacrifice must have been the reason (plus money) for H. Ford’s return, who had wanted it since Return of the Jedi ; Fisher's death was not foreseen ; and the death of Luke is absolutely logical in the movement of the story (like Yoda and Kenobi).

As for the albums, I completely agree with you! smile

I'd give an arm and a leg for a Mike Matessino expansion of this score. Listening to the whole thing will be revelatory!

For me, scores as a listening experience on album:
1. The Force Awakens
2. The Rise of Skywalker
3. The Last Jedi (but I think this was probably the best-treated in the film itself, of the three)

Films:
1. The Last Jedi
...
2. The Force Awakens
...
...
...
...
...
...
3. The Rise of Skywalker

(But I'd still much rather rewatch the mess that was Rise of Skywalker before any of the strangely-rehabilitated prequel trilogy.)

I rate them in the same order (scores and films). But I think I'd rather watch Revenge of the Sith than Rise of Skywalker.

If I never see that pile of bantha fodder that was Last Jedi ever again I’ll be happy. That had nothing to do with Star Wars let alone the stories started in Awakens. It was as if the director said to hell with it I’m doing my own thing, and badly, and went rogue. It was like he knew nothing about any of the characters either, but felt compelled to introduce poorly conceived and badly written new ones that did nothing for the storyline. Nothing anyone did in it made sense, story arcs were useless and went nowhere and they turned Luke back into a whiny dumbass. The opening scene where he tossed the lightsaber over his shoulder summed up what the director did to Star Wars. Critics loved it. That should tell you everything. They haven’t liked anything good for about 20 years.
