I salute the couple of hundred people in the world who can flippantly acquire such.
Many many moons ago I somehow (!) acquired a full metal cap gun replica of a German Luger. Though too young to care about/note such things, I guarantee the pricetag was below $50 Can. . Back in the early 1970s.
As with many realms of production/service endeavour, the "charge what the market can bear" schtick has run far amok... That story makes me think of MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE!
If said toys are from a specific long-ago era, they are expensive because the oldsters who still(!) buy that stuff allegedly have the disposable income ..not many non-Boomers have much of an interest in, say, Gunsmoke merchandise.

Looks cool, but wondering about scale as well as overall quality - have no experience with these metal sheet kits. Plus they aren't asking $1500 for it.

I don't normally buy toys, I'm more into replicas (which I can't afford) but I just couldn't pass up Robby The Robot found in my local Walmart. Its pretty close to movie accurate and the lights, sounds and walking action were just to irresistible to pass up- especially at $20 dollars!
Got this DRAGONSLAYER toy a few years ago, don't remember the price but it was OK. It's still around on the web and sometimes around $30-40. It's a solid and quite heavy figure, similar to the McFarlane toys. Finally managed to take a few pics of VERMITHRAX PEJORATIVE:

Very cool. I picked one up for a family member many years ago. I missed out on it. Heads up for anyone looking for this kit. This was released as a pre-paint/pre-built desktop figure and as a model kit that required you to paint and glue it together. I wish they released a second edition with her wings spread apart and sitting on the mountain top like in the film.
Black Hole figures! These look really good. Could be bigger but not to small either.
The V.I.N.C.E.N.T robot is quite a feat of engineering. It can be posed to match every scene in the movie. The head can close, the head can rise and show the "brains". You can use replacement parts to extend the legs, arms and laser cannons. You can have those parts in retracted position. It even includes a opening latch where you can stick in the optional drill bit he used to disable Maximilian.
Some years back, Hot Wheels issued the vehicles of Simon & Simon, a series which was one of my favorites growing up. Rick Simon's Power Wagon routinely sells for $40.00, which I absolutely refuse to pay. $40.00 could buy me a great art book, hardcover comic book, most of 2 score CDs, a helluva lot of DVDs, and a number of other cherished Phelpsian items.
Accumulating toy cars--which I never cared for all that much as a kid--stuck in their package on a dusty shelf and at that lofty price is just not something very high on my priorities list.
...but I would still love to have that Power Wagon Hot Wheels someday!
