They can stick 'em where the sun don't shine. I went through all the dvds, and I ain't double dipping. The real insult is the insane limited edition idea. Quite apart from being digi-packs which I hate anyway. Sorry for sounding sour. I'm very pleased that great Classic seasons are being spruced up. But does anyone seriously think there won't be another release somewhere along the line? For one thing they'll start colourising all the b&w episode at some point.

And Season 8 is a real mixed bag of stuff that really isn't going to be improved by Blu ray to me. Full of conversions and recolourisations. I'll stick with what I've got. Just done a trawl through Tom Baker's period and it all looked fine to me.

The digi-paks and the limited edition is one of the things that has always bothered me. As soon as they are announced the releases seem to be out of stock. In the US, the season numbers are not correct, compared to the UK and Australian releases and the boxes are Amaray style, minus the deluxe booklet from the UK release. With all the effprt they have put into these releases, why make them limited editions? Unless they make them more commercially available, I for one, will stick with the DVDs.

Agree 100%. Bewildering how lame and all over the place these releases are. With no limit on the time to get them I might have already invested in at least two volumes. As it is, I just think.. you know what? I'll either wait until you lot release this stuff again, which you will, or use other means considering I've already bought them.

This is a cash cow that will keep on being milked. I waited years for a decent quality official release system to come along, and then embraced it. Now I'm back to the 'wait until it's on telly and record it' frame of mind. And for no better reason than what I see as the BBC Worldwide/Enterprise's incompetence on this. I admit I'd wait for sales for things like Trial of A Time Lord or the McCoys, but Season 12 and other great moments would have me signing up straight away.

Pathetic really. But so very typically BBC.

I for one, will stick with the DVDs.

That makes three of us.

I am amused they've got Anjli Mohindra and her beau Sacha Dhawan for a sofa watch of S8.. Terror of the Autons presumably, because it's the Master's debut. There's been a lot of criticism of these sofa watches - that the people don't seem engaged with what they're watching - but the production team keep persisting with them.

I sort of don't mind little diversions like this. Observations across the different versions of the show to see how they all react. Except I fear I'll hate anything that the post female Doctor era will say anyway.

But I did enjoy listening to David Tennant and Phil Collinson's Five Doctors commentary. But even there we had that patronising "ooh look, an imposter who's supposed to be William Hartnell". And then what do we get in NuWho?? An imposter who's supposed to be William Hartnell! Except this time they think that the First Doctor actually IS William Hartnell, with all his 1960s real life character and NOT a time relative Time Lord who is above all that.

And then became a woman.

It's the smugness that annoys me most about the post 2005 crowd. And yet they call themselves fans.

Would have been more appropriate to go with John Levine, Richard Franklin and Katie Manning who I felt, would have been a better choice.

I still haven't watched the last five episodes from the last season. I dip into it now and again to see if it's got better, but usually I'm disappointed with the series. In a way, the series ended for me on Horsenden Hill.

I can confidently tell you that you haven't missed a thing, JJ. It really is the pits now. They're very busy dismantling everything about the series I've always liked. There's even a rumour that they're going to do away with the Police Box. Obviously I've no evidence this is true, or if it's simply the all-time most unoriginal writer Mr Chris Chibnall is simply doing what always does and nicking the playful idea from Attack of the Cybermen, which turned out to be a bit of fun that help publicise the show.

Yes, I have it, though I haven't watched more than the first episode. I'm in two minds about the animations because we're not talking Disney or Pixar here, and the resulting 'Captain Pugwash' cheaper style often takes me out of the story. And unlike some stories this isn't just the odd missing episode but the whole thing. This release did get some stick from some fans because lots of odd arm waving movements, and the story itself isn't the most exciting so for it then to be a cartoon representation....

I did watch The Macra Terror. But that has the advantage of fun monsters that actually helps quite a bit, especially as in this case they are better than the poorly realised originals! The same goes for Dalek stories. They tend to be cg aided animation and the whole things comes alive when they're onscreen.

Of course we do get a well cleaned up soundtrack, and the pictures simply aid that to work. And if we prefer (and I tend to) there's always the option of the telesnap/photo/slide version. I have enjoyed these more than the cartoons because despite being stills they are actually of the production.

The answer really is if you want to see it, go for it. I certainly intend to support all the Classic Series missing episode releases. I'l watch any Hartnell or Troughton.

Ah, 80's Doctor Who. Fun times. The last time I made a point of watching the series. These days, I seem to dip in and out of it.

That's my childhood era. I was nine years old. I distinctly remember being terrified at parts of Paradise Towers. It wasn't until many years later that i found out how many people actually hate this season to death!

Good news for those that missed out on the Limited Edition releases and don't want to pay the extortionate prices.

The first titles to join this standard packaging range will be Season 12 and Season 19, which are available to pre-order now.

Doctor Who: The Collection offers fans the opportunity to build their own home archive of classic content, and has proved hugely popular with collectors and fans of the TV series. The new standard packaging range is being introduced in response to this success, offering fans a second opportunity to fill gaps in their collection, and enjoy the classic era of Doctor Who.

New releases within the Collection range will be marketed as Doctor Who: The Collection Limited Edition Packaging, with the standard edition range marketed as Doctor Who: The Collection.

Releases within the new, standard packaging Doctor Who: The Collection range will feature a standard, plastic Blu-ray case inside a slipcase, with a condensed, standard-printed 12-page booklet featuring disc-breakdowns and selected illustrations. The new range will include all of the watchable content and special features included in the Limited Edition Packaging release and will be available ongoing.

Is there a date for the next repackaged Blu-rays?

No more repackaged blus have been announced yet.

The next season to get the Bluray treatment must surely get an announcement soon. There has been an unusually long delay for whatever it is.

The last releases was back in June, so I'm hoping September/October might be the next date.
