I'm going to go out on a limb (or should it be LEM...?) and guess that it's From the Earth to the Moon, timed nicely for the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 in July. The 500th release for a 50th anniversary has a nice ring to it. Seems to fit the description of a "huge one worthy of our 500th release" -- and definitely worth being excited for, if true! smile

Great guess - better than my guess! (Godfather 1,2,3, set).

LLL 500th Release: Licence to Kill 30th Anniversary Edition (here's hoping)

While I'd like that, that sure doesn't sound like something most would consider a huge release.

People aren't thinking it's "Top Gun"? I remember back when there used to be not-so-vague hints surrounding a potential release a while back (or I was way off base in my decoding of those hints), but it sounded like something was holding it back. I don't recall if anything was ever said, but every time I see talk about this huge 500th release, it's the first thing that pops into my mind.

I just saw MV's old comment that "Top Gun" is "maybe never" happening, so so much for that guess.....

That's a good suggestion. I'm guessing either a first time release or a popular title remastered box set. An Indiana Jones box set, Star Wars trilogy box set or a Rocky box set. Two are under Disney so presumed Intrada territory but you never know. Or a major rerelease like The Towering Inferno.

That’s also supposing the Fox-Disney deal didn’t throw any new complications into the works for the latter.

As much as I’d love Top Gun, it has two things working against it: The sequel and the fact that the original soundtrack is Sony.

Don't think its been confirmed that Disney owns Indiana Jones yet?

Last word from Roger on one of the forums (albiet 3-4 years ago) was that it was held up in negotiations between Paramount and Disney or something that sounded less cut and dry as was with Star Wars. God how I'd love to see Dr Jones arrive at La La Land!

Btw, if Disney owned Indy scores, wouldn't they be milking them in downloads or some CD format as they did Star Wars IMMEDIATELY after rights went from SONY to them?

Is the Concord release still in print?

The ost recently showed up in the Amoeba used bin.

Keep hope alive#

Disney has owned the IP since 2012 when they bought Lucasfilm, and purchased future film rights in 2013. However, Paramount still owns distribution rights to the existing films, so going by what Roger said they must have some stake in the ancillary stuff too.

For what its worth, the only Concord releases of the Trilogy sold on Amazon appear to be the Jewel Case imports. I dont see the Digipacks being available.

The imports have the Universal Logo on the back.

I'd like to see Young Indy get released. We have even less from that show than from the films.

That would be SO awesome. In general a box set seems very likely for 500th release...

"50th Anniversary" as a prerequisite could invite alot of score possibilities, and how about something more interesting than reissuing blockbusters (this is a niche market). C'mon FEAR NO EVIL with sequel RITUAL OF EVIL, both from Universal and Billy Goldenberg.

Is anyone else having problems playing samples on the La La Land site? I've just been trying to play samples from Fletch Lives and I get "The requested URL xxxxxxxxxx.mp3 was not found on this server." And no samples from other releases seem to be working either. Am I the only person having this problem?

Well for one thing all of LLL's mp3 samples are stored on another website not on their own, which I never understood. https://johndadlez.com That site appears to only have a homepage/about page and no other info other than an email address. Seems that site removed or deleted all the audio content linked to LLL.

I figured out a work-around regarding the sound samples. If you buy the CD, that should give you a good idea how they sound.

The mind boggles as to what the 500th release might be.

My dream would be the Indiana Jones saga, with Mattessino mastering, Jim Titus artwork, and complete scores.

Pie in the sky, but it would be worthy of the 500th release.

MV, are we closer to an update for the 500th LLL release? As always, thank you.
