Would both scores fit on a cd?

Oh, I thought you were talking about adding to Quartet's list of scores to newly record; I see now you were just talking about a bonus addition to a prospective Vera Cruz album, specifically. I confess I haven't timed either score.

I have not timed the music in Joan of Arc nor am I familiar with the score for Vera Cruz, but including the Gothic Prelude (I recall reading that the film initially had exit music as well, though this has yet to turn up), I think there’s enough music in Joan of Arc to cover two discs, and that’s not even taking into account the possibility of unused music.

P.S. Glad to hear that Endless Night has already been recorded and looking forward to its release next year so that I can sample it for the first time.

THE BRIDE WORE BLACK was my favorite soundtrack CD of last year. Thanks to Quartet for confirming that ENDLESS NIGHT will be released in 2020.

Big year for Endless Night ... the film is also coming out on Blu-ray with extras ... Kino Lorber announced a 4K remaster in June, but so far, no release date. Maybe in 2020 in conjunction with the Quartet score re-recording?

I would echo those who have praised The Bride Wore Black CD. It's terrific. The complainers are nit-pickers. The fact is, the opportunity for a complete score rendition has been there for decades and nobody took it on until Quartet. All re-recordings are interpretations of an original. Imagine if Bach and Mozart could hear all the variances in re-recordings of their works?

Perhaps it's time to retire the cliche "the complainers." Enough already. People are allowed to have differing opinions without being labeled as if they had no right to those opinions. There are many who love the Quartet CD and there are many who have issues with it. So bloody what? It happens with every release. I enjoyed the Quartet but have nitpicks with it, too, that have to do with technical things - so bloody what? They did it, they issued it, and people stated their opinions yay and nay, and the world goes round. I'm looking forward to Endless Night - not my favorite Herrmann score or anywhere within a country mile of my favorite Herrmann score, but it'll be great to have it.

And now we count down to the first person to say "We need Obsessions now." C'mon, you know you want to.

Don't need OBSESSIONS, but would like COMPANIONS IN NIGHTMARE.

Oh Wow ! MAGNIFICENT ! When it is released which I hope is very very soon I will wear this CD out . Never saw the movie and correspondingly heard the score. I am absolutely blown away by its mixture of melody and darkness. This will become my favorite Bernard Herrmann score. PFK and Niall , see this thread and listen to those samples.

Cody, I do like this midi reconstruction by Gaetano Malaponti, he always does a great job. As I understand it Quartet Records have already recorded the full symphonic score with the Basque Symphony Orchestra and that will be released in February or March 2020 (going by what Jose Maria Benitez said on October 16th). Maybe it might even be included as a surprise among their Christmas batch to be announced on Monday next, unlikely perhaps? I remember going to see the film with a good pal when it first came out in 1972. My memory of it is vague but I do remember enjoying it at the time. The Quartet release will definitely be a purchase for me.

Yes, some nice music here. I don't want to play too much of this midi reconstruction, I want to hear the full orchestra Quartet CD which will be out soon. At 6:03 is Ellie, and Encounter, quite nice. The score has melody and darkness too as you said Cody. I like what Malaponti does, he even did some Frank Skinner and Victor Young!

Also on that YouTube page is a 5 minutes synth performance of Herrmann's unused music for A PORTRAIT OF JENNIE. I like the film and what Tiomkin did with his original music and classical adaptations.

As I mentioned in my previous post Quartet Records have confirmed on this very thread, on October 16th, that they will be releasing Endless Night in February/March 2020! Have you been eating too much spinach Cody, or maybe not enough, lol!!?

"And now we count down to the first person to say "We need Obsessions now." C'mon, you know you want to."

"Obsessions" is just library music from the Herrmann repertoire right? Ironically, that may already be/been available (Western Suite, Outer Space Suite, CBS Library music et al)

Correct. No original music, just Herrmann stuff from the CBS Library.
