Watching the series The Day of the Jackal. Well-done.

It isn't bad but was ruined for me by the terrible casting of Eddie Redmayne - who looks fine as an odd wizard but has zero talent for pretending to be a ruthless ex-soldier assassin.

Sorry Bill, but I like Redmayne in this part. He has this sweet, angelic face that is the opposite of a killer. I like that juxtaposition. When he becomes a killer, his face changes, and he looks like a killer. Different strokes.

Still watching The Last of Us - a poor man's walking dead. Latest episode abandons the current plot to have a whole episode of pointless backstory. The producers think they are being clever but they're just being irritating. What Joan calls a "Filler" episode. And boring backstory nobody gives a toss about is the worst filler.

Sorry to hear about filler, Bill. I loved season one of The Last of Us, and I'm waiting to watch it when it is finished.

Just started season 6 of The Handmaids' Tale. I have enjoyed this series, but it also has filler episodes.

Tons more unnecessary back story in Lost in Space- and always inserted right at the most tense moments of the plot - again and again. Not irritating at all lol.

Blasted through 4 (of 8) episodes of the new updated Netflix take on the old Alan Alda 80s couples relationship comedy drama THE FOUR SEASONS.
The definition of 'an easy watch', it's light and silly with a tinge of sadness and melancholy (Alda himself makes a cameo, early on, as an old family member).
Tina Fey stars and adapts the film and the show also features Steve Carell and Will Forte*
We've 4 more to go, but they breeze by, so I imagine we will finish it tonight or tomorrow.

*who, after only having seen him in this and the TV series THE LAST MAN ON EARTH, can only play one role, which must be himself. He's exactly the same in this as he was in the other show.

On the recommendation of Mr Bond, I'm trying Poker Face on sky max. Is about a woman who calls "Bullshit" when people are lying to her, and, on the run from a dodgy casino boss, she encounters various murders and stops to solve them. So far, amusing and quite clever dialogue.

Kev - saw the Black mirror about the robot dog - so far easily the best episode of first 3 seasons. Apart from the killer bees one, which was also clever concept.

I'd have to give them a proper revisit Bill, but IIRC, the BLACK MIRROR eps do improve as they progress.
I think the first few series were done by Channel 4, until Netflix took over.

Also finished season 1 of Mobland yesterday. Decent conclusion. Held together very well by the class of Tom Hardy. Less said about Pierce Brosnan's exaggerated Irish accent which can come n go even in the same sentence. But, overall, excellent, but because it is without the usual Ritchie excesses. Either the money men are insisting he makes better stuff without the cartoon characters, or he's starting to realise it himself.

That seems to be becoming very evident

I just finished Mobland also, and I really enjoyed it. Hardy was good, but even though Bronson's accent was bad, I thought he did a fine job of acting.

Just started Dept.Q. Head detective reminds me a bit of Slow Horses. So far, it is well-done.

We just finished the latest season of Hacks, and are now working our way through Andor. My wife never saw the first season, so we started from the beginning. I am very happy to be revisiting the first season of Andor. Fantastic show!

Agree with Joan n Ryan - Dept Q is a cut above. Matthew Goode is well cast and from start of ep1 you can see the supporting cast are all stellar and sensible choices.

Finished Dept.Q and loved it. I am sure there will be a season 2. Finished Tulsa King and really enjoyed it. A season 3 is due pretty soon.

I watched a British series called The Capture with Holliday Grainger and loved it. The A.I. in it will creep you out.

I liked The Survivors on Netflix.

On Prime I watched Scrublands. I had adored the novel. The first episode is shocking. The last three episodes were just okay.

I'm plodding along with poker Face. Some good guest stars - nick nolte and Elen Barkin for a start.

Also trying Wild Cards on paramount. A demoted cop and a con artist working together.

The Gold season 2, despite first episode slow start, is excellent

I saw Matthew Goode interviewed this morning. I am a fan of his and Dept. Q is on my to do list.

Nearing the end of the latest series (7) of BLACK MIRROR.
I take my time on these cos you only get 4-6 new episodes every 3 years or so.
Man, last nights watch was dark.
COMMON PEOPLE...about a guy who starts paying a subscription service/fee for his wife's medical issues.
Darkly comic but OH SO bleak (and scarily realistic I suppose, if you've ever encountered this whole new 'keep payING MORE' add-ons BS to these channels/streamers etc, plus how I've heard medical cover costs in the likes of the USA).
I've only got two more episodes to watch (although one is the sequel* to the USS CALLISTER episode, so I will need to re-watch the old one before viewing the sequel episode).
I hate it when I've got no new BLACK MIRRORS to watch frown

* a BLACK MIRROR first
