Sign me up for all of the above and more from the Fox vaults, Cody and Seltzer! (Actually I’ve never been wild about All About Eve overall for some reason, but it could certainly use a facelift since the FSM is decades old!) Yavar I actually asked Bruce about a potential remastered edition of Eve over at Home Theater Forum after Criterion announced they’d be releasing the film next month (this was before we learned of the moratorium) and his response was basically “we’ll see.” Supposing the moratorium ever gets lifted, I wouldn’t mind a Henry Koster at Fox set (minus A Man Called Peter since they reissued that last year), if only so we could get remastered versions of Waxman’s My Cousin Rachel and especially The Story of Ruth.

Saw a copy of this set up close on Friday evening. A thing of beauty. It will be mine.

The dust finally settled on my bank account -- and I was able to get this release. I spent a few hours last night listening in awe to the genius of Mr. Newman. What a super collection! A desert island set if ever there was one.

Absolutely loving this collection! Did anyone else notice a snippet of additional music in Captain from Castile that was not present on the SAE release? Disc 3 track 7 "Escape from the Traitors" runs 4:06, and bursts into a statement of the main title theme at the end. On the SAE, the track runs 3:38 and just fades out before this. I don’t have this set yet, but I just double checked my copy of the SAE of Captain and that statement of the main theme at the end of “Escape from Traitors” is definitely on there and the track runs 4:07 (I’m thinking that 3:38 runtime was a mistake).

Actually initial pressings of the SAE edition did omit that short cue by accident. They later fixed it. I love this score so much that I rebought it from them for the extra cue, haha... Yavar

Finally received my copy. Kudos to all for a magnificent achievement! Especially PRINCE OF FOXES! Love that score! But, hey!, I love ‘em all! Newmaniac here... Any thoughts on more Newman releases? As I recall, there’s never been a legit CD of MY FRIEND FLICKA, which is wonderful. Great job!

We're hoping for the best that we'll be able to continue - we had two other director sets in the pipeline for ages, and several other releases planned. It's not gonna happen quickly, but we are ever hopeful. Meanwhile, come next week we have two releases coming - one show reissue, and one very interesting CD that has music from two discarded scores by a very intriguing composer.

It's not gonna happen quickly, but we are ever hopeful. So these were still "in the pipeline" enough that they may still be able to happen despite the Disney purchase of Fox? Meanwhile, come next week we have two releases coming - one show reissue, and one very interesting CD that has music from two discarded scores by a very intriguing composer. That sounds fascinating -- can you say anything else about this composer besides the fact that they are "intriguing"? Yavar

Answer coming at midnight.

...one very interesting CD that has music from two discarded scores by a very intriguing composer. Hmmm... interesting klew... An intriguing composer? Sounds like it might be someone who is primarily known for other kinds of music, who made two intriguing attempts to write film scores... and failed on both occasions. Close? Mostly correct, save for I wouldn't use the word failed, as I rather like the music and certainly like other music by the intriguing composer.

After months of contemplating, I finally caved and got this set despite already having the SAE of Captain from Castile (can anyone comment on how much of an improvement this is over that earlier release?). I first listened to the Prince of Foxes disc and have to say that I was impressed by the level of improvement over the FSM. Currently listening to The Black Swan (of which I have no previous familiarity with) and intend to listen to the rest of this impressive set later. Well done, Kritzerland!

I have every single score that is part of this set except for The Gunfighter. I just can't justify rebuying all of these for three cues. Is there any sole out there who would be willing to share those three cues with me? I have no experience with this type of file sharing, but bear in mind that Prince of Foxes also has about 20 minutes of additional material (most of it quite substantial) and has greatly improved sound quality over the original FSM release.
