Knowing the taste of this forum, I seriously doubt there are anyone here that share this interest (outside maybe ahem and FirstBreath), but I was wondering if there are any fans of prog house and similar styles here? I'm not talking about crappy commercial trance like Darude or Scooter.
No, rather artists like Paul Oakenfold, DJ Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Max Graham, Juno Reactor, Deep Dish, Underworld, Timo Maas, Ferry Corsten, Blank & Jones etc. Hardcore stuff with FAT beats, that's what I'm talkin' about!
It's popular to say that this died in the 90's, but if you ask the artists/DJs themselves, they will tell you that this is not the case. And they should know.

Absolutely - big fan here!
Very fond of Oakenfold, Tiesto, Maas, Van Dyk, Deep Dish, and - Underworld. All on my iPod! Many others as well.
Love da phat beats, hardcore...yes I do!!

I enjoy some of that stuff, but I'm not heavily into it. Of those you mentioned, Juno Reactor is the most special to me, or rather Electrotete which Holweck and Watkins called themselves in the early 90s. Their 1991 single I LOVE YOU is one of my favorite tunes ever, kind of melodic, groovy house music that I'm sure you will like. Saw it on MTV and it kind of changed my life. Unfortunately, Electrotete never released an album. I have Juno's album Beyond The Infinite from 1994, but I don't play it too often, a bit too unmelodic perhaps.
I saw Underworld at the Quart Festival in 1994, not exactly memorable, just incredibly loud really. But they have some good stuff. Didn't I send you that Paul Van Dyk album Seven Ways, Thor? The single Forbidden Fruit is very nice. And I told you about Oakenfold, and how I love his production work for Deacon Blue in 1992, especially the song YOUR TOWN. Check that out.

Yes, you did, and much to my annoyance it is now lost. I lent it to a girl with whom I shared a flat. I almost never let people borrow CD's from me, but I made an exception this once because I thought...hey, she lives in the next room, what can go wrong? Well, she suddenly moved out of there, that's what went wrong, and took my CD with her. Oh well, at least it wasn't some rarity.

Very much! I'm not familiar with a lot of artists, as I started delving into this area just a couple of years ago. I've always loved electronic music (TD especially), and various forms of techno deliver that same feeling to me often. But I seem to be very picky about it. I either love it or can't stand it upon first listening to a song. The style and synth choices either grab me or don't. I've gone through so many compilation CDs it's ridiculous. Because I don't know the names of the kind of techno music I like, I rarely seem to find material that clicks with me. One song I discovered a few years ago is called "Get Wicked" or "Wicked", by someone called Those2. That's the kind of stuff I really dig. Not sure what techno class it falls into. One of my favorites is "Dive in the Pool", but I'm not sure if that classifies as techno either it. But I love that tune beyond belief.

Never heard of any of 'em, so until I hear the music I'll have to say I don't know whether I'll be a fan or not!
